They killed it on the recruiting cycle this year and have done well recently.

They have a young, hyped head coach who signed a significant extension.

They are at an all time high in terms of exposure with JFF and being SEC.

I think we are starting to see the glory days of Aggie football. I expect them to be top 10 for the foreseeable future. The west is really good.

The SECW is not sustainable right now... four teams in the last two years have spent significant time in the top 10... and two others have spent time inside the top 25.

a "perennial" top 10 team needs to finish in the top 10 for more than one consecutive year.

Top 25 for sure. I think the West is too good to stay top 10 consistently.

I personally think they lucked out when Texas decided to hire Charlie Strong. I think he is going to be a dud.

Going forward, we will have as good of a chance as anyone in the west

I'll agree with that

In fact, the entire SEC West lucked out

Their biggest problem is UT. If strong succeeds there, they will have to fight hard to maintain their current success recruiting in Texas.

I'm not sold yet. I am holding back judgement until I see how they move forward without JFF.

I just think the combination of the move to the SEC, the emergence of JFF, and the debut of Sumlin combined with the demise of UTex points to the Aggies being a force to be reckoned with in the future.

Yes, there is plenty to go around, but you all plucked some kids in 2014 that probably would have headed to UT if another coach were in place.

We'll see but we're definitely in an infinitely better spot than 5 years ago.

I've always been of the opinion that steel sharpens steel. Even if the SEC beats up on each other and pushes some outside of the top 10, everyone will take their turn.

How many SEC teams could have beaten Notre Dame in the 2013 BCSNC? Six?

That's what got me thinking. The West is gonna be unreal if we keep this up.

Only time will tell. If Stong can start a good recruiting process in Texas, he may be able to compete for the Big 12 quickly. Texas winning the big 12 in the next few years could slow down A&M big time IMO. Perennial top 25 will be A&M's future at least for the next 5 years.
