Notre Dame

cant be considered elite anymore imo. When you play the schedule they do and have the set up into the BCS etc. and still cant win then youre just not elite anymore imo.

I pretty much agree with you, although I'm not sure about Michigan, and I think FSU might just be an elite program that's temporarily struggling.
At best, it's the other way around.

Nope LSU is not ELITE! You just became relevant in the 2000's..

Plus you all are the first two-loss champion and you all will be picked to play in the BCSCG next year..

The nine programs I mentioned have more conference (except for ND) championships, national championships, bowl appearances and victories, weeks in the top 5/10/25, etc. than any other schools for the most part

You do not become an elite program with a circa 1957 half national championship, a peoples' national championship, a really good season when you were under sanctions and 3/4's of a magical season that is not only under ncaa scrutiny, but has added the fbi as a new "fan."

That's it boys. Everybody else is at least one step down.
Tennessee may not be elite at the moment, but they're ahead of Notre Dame and Penn State. Notre Dame hasn't won a damn thing since the 80's, and the only thing Penn State has done since joining the Big 10 is capitalize when Michigan sucks. The only reason anyone even talks about them at all is their old coach.

How can you be elite, when a possible third unbeaten season in 17 years, yields no natty hardware all three times?

Yet, LSU and Fla have five natty titles combined in the last 14 years, all in seasons where they lost a game, all but one title season with a home loss, and one of LSU's where they lost twice.

The state of Alabama knows how to yield perfect seasons, unfortunately for Auburn..only the Tide get prizes for doing such.

I will say that these programs have the POTENTIAL to rejoin the elite.

Penn State
Florida State

You could probably add Michigan to this list as well. They don't belong in the elite RIGHT NOW, but they absolutely have the potential to be as good as anyone.

Penn State is definitely more elite than us. Heck, Nick Saban would go there if a job is available

Penn State has all of the potential in the world if they get the right coach. They have a lot going for them.

I'd say they all qualify, but I'm still not completely sold on Nebraska. It's almost like a different program than it was post 90's/option/steroids.

You have to have national championship in the last 25 years to be top tier. And one in the last 10 to be elite. Being ranked #1 for consecutive weeks helps some too.
