Don't really care to go back to Norman or Stillwater ever again and those 2 are likely a package deal.

I'd rather add Tulane. At least New Orleans is a destination spot.

Well, they'd have the 2nd most national championships in the SEC, 4th most bowl appearances, 2nd most wins, most consensus All Americans, most Heismans, most draft picks, most weeks in the AP poll, most weeks spent as #1 in the AP, and the only team in the SEC with a winning record vs Alabama.

Safe to say they'd become the 2nd best program in the SEC, with an argument to be #1.

We'd be a monster and compete with anybody over here, any time, anywhere for the top spot, every year. Period. That may not sit well with you, but deep in the recesses of your mind.....you know it's true.

Remember when Mizzou and A&M invaded our conference in 2012? Florida and Georgia baptized them. OU will be baptized by Bama, LSU or Auburn

Um....no.

There is only a big one in this conference and everyone else has been riding their coat tails for awhile now

Sec! Sec! Sec! Sec!

Let's put it in perspective. If the SEC expanded and took OU and Tulane, Tulane would be in the "Big 7" before OU would, simply on the strength of their 3 SEC titles historically.

Just another "Big 7" we'd pants on an annual basis on national television. Now that's "perspective"

Maybe, but while bama was on the sidelines, Auburn, UF, LSU, and UTk were still keeping the sec in the spotlight. Which, bama benefits from the money those schools brought in. And of course, They get saban. He doesn't win at LSU, they never hire him.

Because the sec is good, bama gets the benefit and get a rematch.

So other schools kept the sec affloat while bama was in timeout. They needed us just as much.

You can't be part of the Big 6 without a SEC championship. They can be included the day that happens

I'd almost agree with you if the only evidence of their football accomplishments was conference championships from years in the Bigtwolittlesix, but they've got 7 NC's to go along with it.

You can't leave out a top five all-time program.

It isn't ever happening.

Especially now that the stronghorn AD has agreed with expanding the big dumpster fire conference.

How about sticking to more relevant topics?

They are a top program historically no doubt. But until they would win the SEC they are not in the "Big 6 club" of the SEC

That's stupid. History didn't begin in 1992.

So if South Carolina wins the SEC Championship next year, they are suddenly "Big 6" ?

To be part of the elite group, you have to be a serious contender to win the league over the course of many decades. You have to win SEC titles. You have to have a National Championship in your trophy case. And most importantly, you have to be respected as a major program.

Kentucky won the SEC in 1976. There is a reason they were not considered "Big 6" during the '70s and '80s. Because even if they have an SEC Title, they are still Kentucky.

The same would apply to any of the other non Big 6 members right now if they somehow won a single SEC Title. It's more than just that. And this didn't all start in 1992.

They would automatically be #2. Bye bye Auburn.

With 2 National Titles, 8 SEC Titles, and a #12 all-time ranking in the AP, Auburn isn't going anywhere.

People are putting way too much emphasis on the "6" and ignoring the "BIG", which is really what it is all about. It doesn't matter if it is 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 teams. It could one day be any of those. It's about which programs are at the top of the league from a historical standpoint. Recent history certainly counts for something, but one, two, or even 10 years of football doesn't gain or take away elite status.... Tennessee has proven that.

If Oklahoma joined, it would be the "Big 7". If UT has another 20 years just like the last 10, it will become the "Big 5." But Tennessee nor Auburn is going to lose their status anytime soon.

If Okie joined there would be another as well to go to 16 correct?

I'd allow a Big 8. Bama, LSU, UF, UGA, UT, Aubie, Okie and...........?

So the imaginary committee of the big 6 would remove Tenn from the imaginary big 6? How many unicorns get to vote?

Imaginary?

Imagine Arkansas' 35-70-1 record (33.6%) against the "Big 6" since you came into the league and then ponder why no one respects your program enough to include you as a member.

ALL TIME WINNING PERCENTAGE AGAINST THE "BIG 6":

1) Alabama (61.8%)
2) Florida (50.4%)
3) Auburn (48.3%)
4) Georgia (46.5%)
5) Tennessee (46.0%)
6) LSU (45.6%)
7) Ole Miss (34.5%)
8) Arkansas (33.6%)

Now if you can't see the obvious gap between #6 and #7, I can't help you.

If Tennessee were to have another 10 years just like their last 10 seasons (2006-2015), their all-time winning percentage against the "Big 6" would fall to 41.6%. If the next TWENTY years were to go exactly like the previous ten, then their all-time winning percentage against the "Big 6" would fall all the way to 38.2%.

If that were to happen, Tennessee would be closer to the Ole Miss' and the Arkansas' of the world. And they'd be nearly 40 years removed from an SEC Title.

So yes, I think if Tennessee has another 20 years just like the previous 10, they will lose their status.

But that also means that what takes Tennessee 30 years to lose would likely take Arkansas 30 years to gain.... and that's only if Arkansas starts playing at a level they've not been at in a generation.
