Not sure why I should care about OU's lower tier conference championships

Cuz playing and beating some of the best Nebraska and Texas teams ever...over the past 60 years is lower tier....the big 12 south from 2000-2008 was as elite as it gets.

They are a top program historically no doubt. But until they would win the SEC they are not in the "Big 6 club" of the SEC, in which only those six have been able to win the conference since the expansion to 12 teams

When they do which should inevitably happen, welcome to the club.
If they can't? They can have fun with the little whatever the number is club.

I was talking about the notion that their conference championships and NCs are "lower tier" which is simply not true at all.

Fair enough, no matter your history you have to win the SEC to be in the "Big #" of the SEC is all I'm saying

I agree, I'm sure OU would have no problems competing for the sec especially with the division shake ups that would have to occur if they joined. No way you could have OU Bama and LSU in the same division.

BIG 6 WINNING PERCENTAGE VS "BIG SIX"

55.6%- Florida (132-105-3)
50.4%- Auburn (127-125-5)
50% - Missouri (11-11)
43.9%- Georgia (87-112-5)
43.3%- LSU (78-103-6)
41.6%- Tennessee (77-110-10)

From that weak conference and all.

If Oklahoma was to win an SEC title or two or three, it would have to include a national championship. SEC titles would be a nice addition obviously but there has to be more because of the standard LSU, Auburn, Florida, Alabama in recent years added to the accomplishment in Atlanta. Oklahoma doesn't want to be a Georgia consistently.

Indeed.

If given the opportunity, they'd just FSU it.

I guess that you did not read the recent review of Neyland's Tennessee schedules.

I disagree with you. The big 6 are teams that have won the SEC since expansion IMO, they obviously are also the programs "at the top in every statistical category"

Actually when I was younger it was called "THE 6" when the SEC had 12 members and Georgia Tech and Tulane were still members (yeah I am old) and it had to do with the 6 best teams of a given year (as back then you had no SEC CCG) so it rotated.

Kids today want to keep revising history so they say it is winners since 1990's expansion or winners in all statistical categories but it really who is the best 6 SEC football schools in a given year.

That ends the history lesson for today

According to the rule book, you most average 1 SEC championship every 10 years to be considered to JOIN the Big 6... Auburn stays, Tenn stays, UGA stays, Florida stays etc... The Big Six are the gatekeepers of the conference. Remember when Mizzou and A&M invaded our conference in 2012? Florida and Georgia baptized them. OU will be baptized by Bama, LSU or Auburn

If Oklahoma did go to SEC, and depending who else joins, would OU be SECW or SECE?

OU would wreck auburn and most likely LSU most years. Fact is OU does very well vs sec throughout history and is one of the few teams to have handled Alabama head to head over the years.
