You moved it after the fact. How many days had it been since Katrina had made landfall when you played the game?

ETA I just looked. Two weeks later. So that's your comparison?

now go look and see when that contingency plan was put in place

and then go look at what LSU did shortly thereafter with the UT game due to Hurricane Rita

Agree with all of those comments. I'm guessing that many Florida fans knew their administration didn't handle the situation very well, which led them to get defensive and attack the low hanging fruit (Alleva's public whining).

At least four days out people knew that Katrina was probably hitting Louisiana. Then you had another two weeks until the game. Not even close to being comparable.

ETA LSU wanted to move UF's home game on LSU's terms. In the end, LSU got what they wanted.

again, look at when the contingency plan was in place. No LSU fans or admin were arguing that the game HAD to be played IN Gainesville on that Saturday. The issue was that UF admin did not even try to create a contingency plan. I don't see how you aren't gathering this. It was the only thing everyone was barking about.

Also, did you have a moment to look into Rita and LSU vs UT? By all means, check it out and come back.

What would their contingency plan be? That is the point you aren't getting. Move it to Atlanta on a few days notice?

The State of Florida was out of the question. I live on the NW Coast and we had people from all over the State flocking here.

Again, LSU wanted to dictate the terms of UF's home game. Foley wasn't having it.

You want him to look up how LSU played a game two days after Rita hit even though the area was still reeling from the other major hurricane that hit less than a month before?

But that would destroy his entire narrative and make him look like a fricking moron. Why would he do that?

Acting like it wasn't an option to play on Sunday or Monday is fricking ignorant. That exact move had been made by a SEC team in the recent past.

and if they'd have lost the game to LSU, at BR, he would've looked like an idiot for not accepting the neutral site option that not Alleva suggested, but also found the venue.

Not to mention Alleva offered to play Monday in Gainesville damage permitting. Since you refuse to acknowledge it, I'll go ahead and tell you, this is exactly what LSU did in 2005 against UT. LSU had a home game scheduled for Saturday, UT didn't want to travel for obvious reasons, so it was moved to Monday and was played. 91k fans showed up.

he would rather continue pretending it is impossible, apparently. Even though everyone knew the storm in Florida would be long gone by Monday.

This dude is acting like Foley "wasn't having it" when LSU was trying to still give him his home game.

Foley was immensely lucky Guice went the wrong direction, or he'd have looked like a fool for not agreeing to those terms.

I'm sure the schools would rather compete with either of those than shell out the $1.5 million to cancel their contract with the OOC opponents.

The situation could have been handled so much better by everyone involved. It was a shitshow from beginning to end.

Looks like 17 Sheritt would have tackled him for a loss. That is why he went left.

looks like a TD to me

point remains though- had Guice scored there, yall would've been livid at Foley for allowing this game to be played in BR and not accepting neutral site or Monday home game.

He would have. He cut it back up the middle because he saw dude camped out. LSU fans see what they want to see.

you just going to continue to ignore the facts posted ITT?

you might shouldn't post about things that you didn't keep up with at the time. You likely weren't aware what LSU had offered.

LSU moved a game to Monday. Congrats. I have no idea how big a hurricane it was. It was no Cat 4, I promise you that. Katrina hit, had left, and you play a game two weeks later. You toot your horn about that.

You are comparing apples to oranges.

It was a Cat 3 when it hit on Saturday, September 24th. LSU played it's game on Monday, September 26th.

You continue to show that you're amazingly ignorant.

I just read about it. It was a Cat 3 when it hit land. The article said it weakened quickly. It is obvious BR didn't get much damage if you were playing a football game two days later. I know hurricanes. I have lived Hurricanes. A hurricane with any teeth and you are out of power for at least two days.

ETA From reading the article, the Coast got pounded and then it was a lot of rain.
