I just read about it. It was a Cat 3 when it hit land. The article said it weakened quickly. It is obvious BR didn't get much damage if you were playing a football game two days later. I know hurricanes. I have lived Hurricanes. A hurricane with any teeth and you are out of power for at least two days.

So, you're missing the point, yet again. Shocker.

LSU was able to play a game two days after a hurricane hit because the damage was minimal. Why couldn't UF do the same when Gainesville was barely touched?

Seriously dude, you're really looking like you don't have a fricking clue. It's probably time to give it up.

I have no idea how big a hurricane it was. It was no Cat 4, I promise you that.
You should have stopped at "I have no idea." Rita was the fourth largest Atlantic storm ever recorded. Katrina was the sixth. Rita was a category 5 hurricane two days before it hit land, but fortunately for Louisiana took a Northwest turn and "softened" to category 3.

I just hope no one in the path of the storm gets hurt.

BECAUSE IT TAKES MORE THAN TWO TEAMS TO PLAY A FOOTBALL GAME.

THE GAME HAD ALREADY BEEN POSTPONED BY THE SEC. IT WAS POSTPONED ON THURSDAY.

How dense are you?

It was postponed because UF refused to discuss playing the game on any day except for Saturday. Saturday wasn't an option, therefore, postponement.

That, in no way, changes the fact that there were multiple options for the game to be played without moving the weekend or cancelling other games. As LSU did in 2005.

Says the guy who has had every single post he's made ITT proven wrong.

Nice.

So it was a Cat 3 that fizzled after it hammered the Coast. I read the article. BR got a lot of rain. A storm means nothing until it hits the Coast. 200 MPH winds don't mean a damn thing 400 miles from the Coast. It's good that it weakened, but you LSU fans are acting like you put the State back together in two days so you could play a football game. We have had Tropical Storms hit us and cause power to be out for several days. The fact that you were playing football two days later tells me all I need to know about that Hurricane.

You mean like the other schools in Florida did last year? You've got no leg to stand on here, yet you're still kicking and screaming like a petulant child.

It's pretty funny.

The school closest to Gainesville postponed their game. Keep shooting out BS though.

Hurricanes are scary if you live next to flood prone areas or anywhere along the coast even a couple hundred miles inland can feel the effects

I live close enough to the Gulf to hear the waves crash when the surf is up. I have lived within 10 miles of the Gulf most of my life.....and I have Grandbabies.

This is a dumb arse post! Any Tiger fan that is even discussing this on the Tiger Rant is a dumb arse as well. It wouldn't even be BYU or LSU call on these. We're playing at a neutral site! That cluster frick was all on Florida but no need to rehash that again.

Tampa and USF are 130 miles from Gainesville, and on the coast

Orlando and UCF are 111 miles from Gainesville and inland.

UCF chose to postpone because they had a open date the same as tulane

USF, the school with far more danger, played.

Dude, just admit you havent been right about anything in here

I'm talking Rita.

Rita, a storm that once was thought to cause a lot of damage, and then didn't. Sounds familiar.

Look, the entire point that you continue to avoid is that Foley would not negotiate regarding ANY of the options. Including still playing the game in Gainesville, on Monday, weather and damage permitting.

This is fact. It was public.

I know Hurricanes. I would bet money that I have been in more than you have. You sit on your high chair and blame somebody for not playing a football game because a Cat 4 Hurricane was expected to hammer them in the late Friday/early Saturday hours....but if this happens, let's play on Sunday or Monday here.

LSU went through a monsoon on Saturday and played on Monday.

LSU went through one of the worst hurricanes recorded, damage wise, and played two weeks later.

Yeah, I see how you can compare those to the Hurricane that was predicted to hit Florida.

ETA UF didn't cancel the game, the SEC office did. yet, LSU fans have tried to spin this for months and months that it was UF's fault. It wasn't. UF wanted to play by their rules and LSU wanted to play UF's home game by LSU's rules. LSU won that fight but lost the battle.
