Tom Osborne went 21 years at Nebraska before his first NC.

But he won a massive amount of conference championships to offset this. They were in the hunt almost every year Osborne was there.

His Point is, just because one hasn't won one doesnt mean one can't win one.

How is a person like me the problem for wanting a stronger drug policy for athletes & that is made universal for all teams?

Because as long as kids are fulfilling their responsibilities and staying out of trouble, they should not be subjected to drug testing. At the very least, they should not be suspended for ONE failed test.

& just why shouldn't they be tested? As I stated in my other post, atheletes ARE AWARE of such rules when they join the team. If they disagree with them, keep it moving.

What's the purpose of it? The burden is on that question. What happens is that your team is at a disadvantage and reputations of young folks are tarnished. Alcohol is a much bigger deal if you want to discuss real repurcussions.

because whether or not they're smoking weed has nothing to do with playing football

Drugs/alcohol - doesn't matter. They still should be tested.

It does when they know they can be benched or kicked off the team for failing drug tests.

He's saying it doesn't affect their ability to play football so shouldn't be suspended for it.

Because it is bad.

Why should they be? If they are staying out of trouble and fulfilling all responsibilities in the classroom and on the field, then there is no good reason for it.

We dont breathalyze our football players as they walk into the dorms on a Friday night. Are you saying we should?

Richt is UGA's version of Tommy Tuberville.

This is what I'd be worried about if I were a UGA fan.

Per ESPN LINK

quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

12. Mark Richt, Georgia Bulldogs

Record at school: 136-48 (15th season)

The Bulldogs are again the most talented team in the SEC East, and it’s not all that close, though Tennessee is closing. Georgia should, at the very least, win the division and be in the conference title game this fall. And really, the ceiling should be much higher than that.

“It’s one of the best jobs in the country, hands down. Top five? Top 10 for sure,” an assistant in the league said. We then wondered how many coaches would win a national title at UGA within five years, given the opportunity to be the flagship school recruiting the Atlanta area and a prospect-laden state.

Intermittent consternation between Richt and the administration is something that has been a hindrance, those close to the program contend. That may be a reasonable argument, but it cannot explain away giving up 400-plus rushing yards last season to a Florida team that has no passing game of which to speak. Georgia trailed its rival 31-7 in the fourth quarter; it appeared that Richt, and not eventually ousted Gators coach Will Muschamp, was the one on the way out and UGA was the sinking ship. It was the most confounding performance in Richt’s lengthy stay, and one that fosters an uneasiness among Georgia’s fans -- and donors, more importantly -- about the program’s ceiling with Richt in charge.

Richt isn’t nearly as close to the hot seat as he was in 2011, when the team started 0-2 after a 6-7 season in 2010. But he’s not all that far away, either.

It’s a prove-it year for the SEC’s longest-tenured coach. We’re a decade away from Richt’s last conference title, one of two at the school. At a certain point, UGA’s power brokers will want to see what someone else could do with the keys to a Ferrari of a program.

I don't know how true it is though.

Seems like coaches would be lining up to to coach UGA, the metro Atlanta area has an embarrassment of riches in prep talent.

Idk how many guys would be chomping at the bit to coach at a school that fires their most successful coach ever who averaged over 9 wins per season.

Not sure on anyone specifically but it's a great job.
