How many decades without a championship can Mark Richt survive?

Hard to believe it's been 10 years since UGA has won anything. Yet UGA fans seem to be happier than ever with the current state of their program.
Did the 2 SEC titles he won between 10 and 15 years ago buy him all the time he needs?
It's an interesting strategy and at least it guarantees you competitive teams almost every year (something Tennessee fans haven't seen in a long time), but it also limits you in that it seems his chances at a title have long passed him by. He's been unable to win one even with total shitstorms at Tennessee and Florida and even Mizzou has seemingly passed him in the night.
What's the consensus UGA fans? Does he have as long as he wants or do you maybe re-evaluate if you get another decade like this one?

They'll keep him as long as he wins half the games against Georgia Tech and Auburn

He's good, their fan base is happy with almost.

Let's play a game, "Hard to believe"
...Butch Jones is 0-11 vs. ranked teams

It took Vince Dooley 16 years to win a national title, and he went about 7 or 8 years in between SEC titles prior to that, after winning 2 in his first 5 years

Richt owns both of those teams, so we're just scratching the surface with that comment. As long as Richt is recruiting at the level he is, UGA will fall into a Natty like Auburn.

That was my thought as well. You know what you're going to get at least. He's only 55, so you can probably count on another 10-15 years of very solid play. It has to be a comforting feeling although you do wonder if some of their fans may yearn for a little more.

Interestingly enough, when people want Richt gone, many in our fanbase point to UT running Fulmer out of town and being a completely irrelevant program for the next 7 years as a reason to not mess up a good thing.

This actually can be a good lesson for others to learn...

I alluded to this in the OP.
I expected most UGA fans to be a little offended by the thread, but I am just trying to get a grasp on expectations UGA fans may have for their program in relation to the outside perception of the program.

We both have to go back pretty far to find a championship won by the team we root for. 27 years combined. A lot of mistakes have obviously been made at Tennessee, but UGA fans don't seem to feel the same way about their drought.
That's what I'm trying to better understand. No need to be offended.

I don't think UGA fans will be offended. We've heard this for the last 5 years. We were five yards away from a natty 3 years ago, but we haven't got the proverbial "break". Is what it is, UGA will win a MNC eventually. Most UGA fans understand this and are waiting patiently.

He is consistent with 10 win seasons. Not his fault half team start year suspended for being idiots. Injuries have hurt last few years. He always has to play Auburn so when he gets Alabama or LSU that two games vs west become brutal.Esp when Fla,Tenn,SCar were good, then throw in GT.Although with Jon Gruden know showing intrest in coaching,if he losses to Tenn,Ala,Aub,GT he could be gone for Gruden, although he wants to coach at Tennessee

It is a bit ridiculous. They should hire Lane Kiffin, IMO. They'd win the SEC in three seasons.

Joe Paterno went 16 years at PSU before he won his first NC.
Bobby Bowden went 17 years at FSU before he won a NC.
Tom Osborne went 21 years at Nebraska before his first NC.

He was wearing out his welcome prior to 2012. Had he had a poor season then he would probably be gone. That year, he almost had us in the national championship game and I guess people thought we were wrong to think he didn't have the ability to compete at such a high level.
Then he brought Pruitt in fresh off a NC and that seemed to buy him some more time when he seat started to warm again following some bad losses in 2013.
Now he's building probably the best recruiting class he's had in his time here with a QB the bulldog nation thinks will be our best shot in a while.
I see him leaving when Eason does(4 years from now), whether or not that is by choice or whether or not he wins a title.
But every time people want him gone, people are scared of becoming like UT did. Seriously, that's the first thing that's mentioned every time someone on the UGA board talks about firing him

I don't follow. Have Butch Jones' struggles as a head coach somehow been negatively affecting Richt over the last decade?
