I just don't think his style and personality will fit here. He very much has the "we are the underdog, chip on the shoulder" thing down pat. And it works wonders at Clemson. I don't even really say that as a "negative". It just doesn't work at Alabama, at all, ever.

That's where the maturity comes into play. They are going to be very, very good over the next 3-4 years and the underdog card won't be in play.

If he can continue to win with a target on his back, then he should definitely be at the top of any Bama fan's wish list IMO.

I could give you 50 years of examples. starting when the bear left bama, how about carrol leaving usc, notre dame, Miami, etc, etc.

First - Bear hasn't been gone for 50 years, but bad hires hurt that - not talent. Guys like Chris Samuels, Shaun Alexander, George Teague, Antonio Langham, etc still came to Alabama.

USC - probation hurt them after carroll. USC was good before carrol.

Notre Dame - They play a tough schedule every year. They are set in their ways and that holds them back as much as anything, but they've been decent.

Miami - as a program, Miami was only really good for less than 20 years TOTAL. And probation hurt their chances moving forward.

As for Bama being a "normal" team, they one SEC championships in the 80's and 90's without Bryant or Saban. They won a national title in '92 without being coached by Bryant or Saban. Only 3 teams in our conference won titles from the end of Bryant in SEC through the beginning of Saban in SEC. Florida, Tennessee, and Bama. That's not a "normal" team.

man, you couldn't be more incorrect. the head coach makes ALL the difference in the world. I could give you 50 years of examples. starting when the bear left bama, how about carrol leaving usc, notre dame, Miami, etc, etc.

bama has not always been a great team. take away the time of bear Bryant and nick saban and they've been a "normal" team or worse. they were wandering in the wilderness when they hired saban.
You ever heard of Wallace Wade or Frank Thomas? How many decades have Alabama gone without 10-win seasons. Hell man, Alabama has beaten LSU 2 out of 3 times throughout the entire history of the series!

We wont fall far. Don't confuse what you saw in the early 2000's with what Bama would be without Saban. That was probation. We will always be formidable. Always be a contender. Football is a sport Bama found it could compete in all the time. We will always be good. Probably not 4 titles in 7 years good but we wont be 6-6.

Fail
LSU Saban wasn't half the coach Bama Saban is. LSU is in far better shape now than then.

Dabo's all wrong for Alabama. Dabo's plan at Clemson has always been 100% QB driven. He's not a defensive guy. He's a climber not a killer. He whines and cheerleads. He's a gimick guy. He's not rock solid and steady. The games highs and lows affect him and it shows in his face and his body language. That affectation is contagious. Nick Saban and Bear Bryant were/are none of those things and neither one of those greats would pick Dabo to inherit the job.

I mean LSU has more talent now than when Saban was here and we've won 2 SEC championships and a national title since he left. Another national championship game appearance as well. Saban didn't have as much time to build his program as Miles though.

Not sure why that's funny. Saban only had 1 year with less than 3 losses here. He was great but now he's phenomenal.

Miles recruited far better for LSU than Saban did, so yes, we're in better shape now.

To be clear, LSU is better off without Saban?

Your honor, disregard the question. No further questions.

Did I say that? I said LSU is in better shape than when Saban was here. He wasn't what he is now. Not by any stretch.

Take away Bear and Saban and you still have Gene Stallings, Frank Thomas, and Wallace Wade so to say Bama would be a normal team is being disingenuous

Mark my words, it'll be Dabo.

Doubt it......Why would he leave the sorry ACC? At Bama he would play a tougher schedule in 4 weeks stretch than he does at Clemson the whole season.

Don't see it.

Because he is not a wimp like Bowden.

Bama takes great coaches and makes them phenomenal. It's undeniable.
