Well that would make sense if bamas floor hadn't already been much lower than current LSU

It makes sense. I'm not comparing pre-Saban Alabama to post-Saban LSU. I'm comparing post-Saban Alabama to post-Saban LSU. With Alabama's pedigree (even before Saban) there's no reason to think post-Saban Alabama wouldn't be in as good a shape as post-Saban LSU, or even better.

Alabama has won at least one SEC title and at least one 10 win season every decade the conference has existed. Since the end of the second world war, they've won at least two every decade except the 1950s and 2000s (won the west 3 times that decade). They've failed to be bowl eligible 4 times in the 58 years since Bear Bryant became the head coach.

There will certainly be a drop, but the historical floor at Bama is still very elite real estate.

Has there been any indication that he might leave within the next 5 years? By the time he does, the coaching landscape will probably look much different and there will be a new pool of up and coming coaches to pull from.

I don't know, but it looks like you're already counting the days until that moment comes.

They will go from a top 3 team to a top 15 team over a 2-3 year span.

"Your" and "You're" sound the same. He couldn't make that correction like that. God, Gumps are dumb.

With Dabo as the head coach, Bama should be ok.

Really depends on who Bama hires..... and I'd imagine Saban will have a lot to do with that hiring. If they hire someone like Dabo, I don't think there will be a big drop.

It really depends on who replaces him. I would guess that Dabo would get the first call and with Him I don't think there would be much of a drop off. i have it solid source that says Dabo doesn't want the job because he doesn't want to follow Saban.

Kiffin is also a possible replacement that I think has possible learned a lot under Saban but still gmhas some growing to do in his personal life. Kiffin could be a lightening rod as the head coach.

Other than those two I am not sure who would be on the radar.

Historically it is very difficult to follow someone like Saban no matter how good you are as a coach so drop off in production is what one would expect no matter who comes in in my opinion!

I don't think the drop off will be as bad as when Bryant left because I think Saban is in such better health that he may actually hang arm round the program as a resource for a few years once he hangs it up. Bryant retired and died six weeks later and that created a huge power struggle at Alabama. I think Saban will have a hand in his replacement and that may make a difference.

I wish you people would stop talking about Dabo. No Rah Rah coaches at Bama, please.

I actually think they will be getting an upgrade when he leaves. LSU did.
