Deep down, a lot of Alabama fans aren't so much worried because they're afraid auburn is better. We're worried because auburn is clearly good enough to make it a challenge, and so much is at stake. Of all the scenarios that could play out this year, by far the most painful would be auburn stopping our threepeat and then winning it themselves, being able to claim 2 out of the last 4 and knocking a solid hole in our claim of a dynasty.

As for auburn, I don't buy all this "playing on house money" bullshite. While many of you are tempering expectations as much as possible, you are top 5 with a solid chance to make the BCS if you can just win this game. The implications are HUGE for you as well.

I don't think any AU fan will disagree with this statement. It sucks to lose to Bama in any given year. But the bottom line is there is a ton more pressure on Bama to win than AU. AU loses and guess what? They were supposed to. NO ONE expected AU to be in the position we are in. So if we go in and beat Bama...it is the cherry on top to a great season for us.

Quite honestly, even with the W, I don't expect AU to make the NC. So at this point, my biggest worry with the L is a "3-peat" T-shirts/bumper stickers/flags/family shite talking I'll have to see and hear. At this point, with an AU loss, they still probably make a BCS bowl. With an AU W, AU would probably miss a BCS bowl with an SEC championship loss.

Make no mistake though, I want AU to win this whole heartedly, and I will have "tears" for you guys to enjoy in defeat.

The pressure is greater for Alabama to be sure, but given that most of these players have been playing with that pressure for the better part of two years, I'd be more concerned with auburn players dealing with THEIR pressure. It's less pressure, but they haven't been in this situation.

If this game comes down to the last 5 minutes, I'll be shitting my pants. The one thing that concerns me about THIS year's Alabama team is we haven't been in one of those games where you lose if you don't score...and auburn has more than once.

A lot of the seniors were on the 2010 team, so the team leaders have been there.

I think most Auburn fans are saying that because we have came so far in a year. Last year was terrible and the year before was not any better in terms of our rivalry games. If we lose and Bama goes on to a threepeat, it will personally sting a lot. At the end of the day though it will be a great season either way, and one of the best turn arounds in CFB history. This is where most Auburn fans expect our program to be on a yearly basis though, so we want that W.

From the players standpoint though, I think the pressure is largely on Alabama. Not many people outside of the Auburn fanbase give us a legit chance in this game.

Yeah, one of those inbreds was claiming earlier that this would be the most devastating loss in UA history. To a top 5 team. How fricking stupid is that?

Because this game would eliminate any chance for Bama to make history. Besides that fact, your hated rivals takes the NC from you. It may not be the most "devestating" in UA history...it will definitely be in the Saban era and recent history though.

The sting of this loss would be much worse than 2010...

Here is the bottom line IMO.

For bama, a loss means the season is a total failure. It would be the biggest loss of Saban's career, a failure for the historic three-peat implications, and mentally crushing for a lot of bama fans who still think they will win by several TDs. And for all of it to come crashing down so late in the season with no hope of salvaging anything in the SECCG and for it to happen in AU in the biggest IB since Dec 2, 1989 - wow.

For AU, it would be a mixed bag. Some AU fans really do feel as if it is house money and do not expect to win and will get over a loss pretty quickly. For others (like me) it will be a fricking terrible loss that will infuriate because some (like me) think we have a great shot to win and think we should win any and every time we are playing bama at JH with a good team. But, after a couple of days a loss to bama in this game will fade pretty quickly because we weren't supposed to be in this position so quickly and next year is the year we should win the SEC anyway when everyone returns.

So that is my take. An AU loss will suck but be quickly put behind us. A bama loss will be pretty fricking awful for the team and fans for an extended period of time. Just the way it is this year.

If we lose to Bama we go to a BCS bowl game (Sugar). If we beat Alabama and Mizzou and OSU does not lose, we go to the Sugar Bowl. So from that perspective, we have less to lose. After 3-9 and most predicting we might make a bowl, we are playing with house money.

In fact a win might cost us the sugar because we could easily lose to Mizzou/USC.

The point people are trying to make is, that if AU had gone 7-5 or 6-6 with a loss to UA, we'd go into the offseason saying we're still a couple years away from being a threat. Going 10-2 and returning damn near everyone will have AU fans going into the offseason thinking we should be favorites next year, and the turnaround was much shorter than expected. That's what AU fans mean by "playing with house money". Most AU fans predicted a 8-4/7-5 type year, where other fans were saying a 5-7/6-6/7-5 at best type year.

But yes, it would definitely suck to lose Saturday.

Your hatred is showing...

Al.com - Scarbo

Lose to Auburn, and Saban loses a shot at just the second undefeated season of his career.

Lose to Auburn, and he hasn’t been defeated by one of the greatest quarterbacks in college football history enjoying the greatest single season ever. He’s lost to a quarterback who wasn’t even on campus to go through spring practice, and he's lost with a quarterback who's the biggest winner in Alabama history.

Lose to Auburn, and one of the greatest coaches in college football history loses to a head coach in his first season as a boss in the SEC.

Lose to Auburn as a double-digit favorite, and barring a set of circumstances too numerous and bizarre to come true, Saban loses his chance at an unprecedented third straight national championship.

Here's the deal, yes fans will be pissed if we lose on Saturday, but that is because we are fans and you play to win the game (props to Herman). But regardless of the outcome of the game, I guarantee you that Auburn fans will be in the stands cheering and chanting "It's great to be an Auburn Tiger" even if we lose. Its because this has been such an unexpected magical season even with a Bama loss, and our future looks much brighter than we could have expected. So to all Bama fans who are hoping to try an revel in any Auburn misery with a win, you are going to be let down.

All the pressure is on Gus. He has never had a season as a Head Coach where he has lost fewer than 3 games. He wins this, and the jinx is over.

See how that works?
