No they aren't. They are one dimensional and their one dimension plays into Bama's strength. This game will be over by half time. Auburn can't stop the run. JHill had 120 yards in the first quarter. I wish Miles hadn't taken his foot off the gas.

Yes, not playing in base D.. No matter how much you post this, it doesn't change the fact that the 5 man front AU decided to run strongly contributed to the 1st quarter gashing.

Deep down, a lot of Auburn fans aren't so much worried about Alabama being better (they're not). We're worried because Alabama is clearly good enough to make it a challenge, and so much is at stake.

For what this is worth.....after Alabama lost to Auburn in 2010 with Can, Saban put posters all over the locker room,
" Never Again"....I think this year, the beat down continues, but after AJ Leaves we gotta start a new QB, so starting next season we' ll have to see...b

If I'm an Auburn fan (I am) I'm worried because Alabama is clearly the favorite on paper. Good resume, well built to stop us, etc. As a neutral observer, I'd pick Alabama by about 10-14.

If I'm an Alabama fan, I'm worried because winning this type of game is Auburn's MO. Not so much in the last couple years, but certainly in recent decades, Auburn in a big game, underdog environment is an easy play. Family, destiny, whatever, this is AU's element.

Auburn's Defense was practically non-existent against UGA in the 4th qtr. Even after the fluke pass, there were 25 seconds left for UGA to drive the length of the field. They almost did it.

We were pretty tired after 7 straight games and it showed that last quarter.

Guys got a good break for this one.

I don't think any AU fan will disagree with this statement. It sucks to lose to Bama in any given year. But the bottom line is there is a ton more pressure on Bama to win than AU. AU loses and guess what? They were supposed to. NO ONE expected AU to be in the position we are in. So if we go in and beat Bama...it is the cherry on top to a great season for us.

You just described every game Alabama has played in for the last three years.

So basically, the theme that has developed for this Iron Bowl is both fanbases are trying to convince the other that this is a bigger game for the other fanbase than they are willing to admit, meanwhile the rest of the country is telling both fanbases that this is the biggest Iron Bowl ever.

Interesting.

Dont think AU fans are trying to convince Bama fans of anything.

Yeah, the idea that this is a more high pressure game for bama is simply a theoretical observation for me. I really don't think it makes a difference.

The only way I can see it helping is if things go well for Auburn, and Alabama has trouble reacting because of the magnitude and because they're not used to this situation.

Maybe I have missed all the threads started by AU fans trying to convince Bama what they have to lose and how much pressure is on them, but I have seen a bunch of Alabama fans concerned that AU fans won't be devastated if we lose the Iron Bowl.

Really weird IMO.

Like I said earlier...when someone finds out they are not as important as they think they are, they get upset.

I think you are just selectively reading then. The theme of Auburn fans telling Bama fans how big this game is for Bama is in this very thread. It's going both ways.

Bama fan: "This game is huge for Auburn with a lot at stake, you're kidding yourself if you say you don't care."

Auburn fan: "No, this is the biggest game of Saban's career, and could be the most devastating loss for Alabama ever, everything will come crashing down if you lose."

It's like a defense mechanism or validation attempt or something. Psychologists would have a field day with it.

I don't know why not. Auburn is a legitimate #4 and is playing in their house. I can honestly see this game going either way.

Nobody is saying we don't care. We're saying that we've got a lot to fall back on, much more than we anticipated, if we lose. It's a soft landing, in many ways.

So do you, but based on where the respective fan bases are in their expectations, we simply predict we'll handle it better than you all will.

Will I be upset if we lose to Bama Saturday? You bet your sweet arse I will, but I'm always upset when we lose a game, particularly to our rival. I go into every Auburn game with the faith that AU can win, even when it runs contrary to the facts. But isn't that what all fans do? We believe our team can do it.

That being said, Sunday morning I will get up and be pretty happy with this season, no matter what happens on Saturday. After the dumpster fire that was last season, this season has been nothing but an absolute joy.
