I know you aren't stupid enough to not see the connection here...but you realize that the multiple heisman finalists/winners and other All American type folks you listed have done extremely well against just about everyone they've played...right? Kelly just lit the frick up out of bama this year without smart..maybe he's just a really good QB? Crazy I know.

And I know you are not that stupid in thinking the rest of the SEC is just a notch below these guys over the years. My point, he has only faced a few elite QBs and did not fare well against them. He feasted on the below average QB play in the league the last 5 years.

They are similar in that they are head coaches in the SEC. That is about where it ends.

True. One is an O guy and the other is a D guy. One has actually won the SEC and taken a team to the NCG as a HC.

True, one of these guys has also coached a team to a 2-6 conference record.

Just like Texas made by firing the great Mack brown, right?

9-3 should be attainable by any coach at UG with a pulse, given how consistently shitty the East is plus your recruiting advantages. It's a blessing and a curse for yall because it's hard to fire winning coaches.

Maybe, maybe not. That's an argument for another thread. What i was responding to was the comment that almost every great coach managed to win at least 75% of their games by their second year. I was merely pointing out that Smart probably would too.....in his first year. Now, you, and others can argue all you want to about advantages and disadvantages, but that was not mentioned in the posters post.

With this years fsu, great might be an exaggeration.

Don't be fooled by one game/loss to Louisville. Louisville is legit, and they could blow a lot of teams away. Sometimes a fluke win happens and a good team gets trounced. Do you think Alabama was 35 points better than Michigan State last year? As good as Alabama was, I don't think they were 35 points better. Bama got them down and they just couldn't dig their way back out.

FSU beat a very good Ole Miss team, who might be the second best team in the SEC. (Apologies to A&M, who would be my second guess for #2)

They lost to UNC last weekend though. They also lost to a 3 win team last year with ugly wins vs Miami, BC, and Wake. The shine is off FSU now that they dont have Jameis.

Considering where Texas is at, probably not the greatest example.

Mack brown won big way back in the day. That means he was perfect for Texas forever. Not my logic, the Texas fans logic.

It's a low percentage pass. Deep ball down the sideline with safety help up top.

Sure, but It's far from a 1% pass. It does require a special arm and safety indecision due to the #1 threat being in the slot. It's far from the jump ball prayer you claim it was.

It's like 5 games into his first season, people need to cool their jets.

He may turn out to be an epic failure, who knows.

But you need at least 2 full seasons to get any sort of real idea.
