I do look at this as a coaching loss. Kirby said they practice this all the time. Well, if so why was your tallest guy in the back of all those receivers (#7 Lorenzo Carter 6'6"). They put him in for that one purpose. He should have bracketed that guy in front of him.

How is this not true? He wasn't dominant when he took over at Toledo. He wasn't dominant when he took over at Michigan State. He wasn't dominant when he took over at LSU. He wasn't dominant when he took over the Miami Dolphins, and he wasn't dominant when he took over Alabama. Yet, we all know how great a coach he is. I'm not saying Kirby is a great coach like Saban, but no one really knows yet.

I was addressing his point of few head coaches being dominant to start their careers. That's not true at all for top head coaches who start their careers at elite programs. Saban wasn't at an elite program to start his career at Michigan State. It's actually a very difficult place to win big. They only made one Rose Bowl appearance in 47 seasons (1966-2012). If Saban had started his career at a program the caliber of Georgia in 1995, he would have won a lot more games.

Remind me about Saban's first season at Alabama.

Fixed it for you. Every place he's been, it's taken at least a year if not more before he got the ship pointed in the right direction. These things take time.

Well, I imagine some Uga player didn't do as instructed every week which makes it a player issue.

That's true. It's usually the second year where most good coaches are able to make an impact and turn around a program. I do feel like Kirby should still be able to win nine games this year with how easy their schedule is. South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Kentucky and Georgia Tech are all dreadful while Florida and Auburn are seriously flawed teams. There's no reason why UGA shouldn't be able to go 6-1 the rest of the way with that schedule.

But that was the decision they made when they fired Richt. Richt gave them a consistent season every year. He had a high floor but also a low ceiling. Kirby has a much lower floor, in my opinion, but a couple years down the road, he could make them into a legitimate playoff contender.

Some people act like Smart has a joystick that controls every player on the field. This isn't fricking madden you can't help that one player was in the wrong spot.

I would say right now, I agree. Too many question marks at key positions, and Smart is still learning how to be a head coach. I have my concerns, like others, but I am going to be patient.

In fact I don't consider the Tennessee game a loss - it was more luck that anything else and if they played the last 2 minutes of that game 100 times Georgia would win 99 of them.

Look, I don't really care about UGA. Don't love or hate them. I do think that Kirby is off to a rough start though. The East sucks and that will protect Kirby some but any way you slice it he is very close to being 1-4 right now instead of 2-3 and that's not good at UGA with the talent they have. The way they blew the game with UT also showed lack of discipline with stupid penalties and not defending the hail mary. UGA has a pretty weak schedule from here on out with really only one team left that realistically will be ranked in UF (and that isn't a lock) so he may end up with a decent season but I'm not impressed so far.

I would think we would be 2-3 at best and likely 1-4 with richt now, so it's hard to consider 3-2 rough.

Tennessee would blow a coverage with 12 seconds left and allow a 50 yard TD 99 out of 100 times? It's like a lot of people forgot that part happened

Maybe if they played the last 10 seconds 100 times, Georgia would win 99 of them. But the last 2 minutes? Lol.

Most of us predicted 3-4 losses this season due to the change.

5 games into his head coaching career and people on the rant already questioning the hire.

Mark Richt would have Georgia at 1-4 if he was still the HC.

Well, they are not 2-3 for starters and their remaining schedule is pretty cushy....@SoCarl/Vandy/FLA/@UK/AU/LaLa/GaTech - I see them going 5-2 to finish the year, possibly 6-1. So a 9-3 record with a decent bowl ain't too bad for a 1st yr coach.
