OK...then you'll have no problem listing his broadcast experience as a commentator:

First of all they hired him as an analyst and not a commentator. He won't be calling games as I understand it.

I can't name the exact shows, but I know he came on a show giving his analysis of this years iron bowl. The guy gives well thought out analysis. He will be good it. Much better than Tebow imo. You can hate him because he played for Bama, but he is going to succeed in football analysis. I have no idea if he would make a good game commentator, but that is not what they hired him to do.

But by all means continue to bash him if it makes you feel better.

1. Nameth the had his own show, and currently has broadway joe.tv
2. He's hilarious. Albeit by mostly accidental or consequential means.
3. He played QB at bama. Can't get more down home than that.

I didn't say he would be "calling games", but do tell us the difference between a "commentator" and an "analyst"

OK...wow, he provided analysis of one game.

He will be good it.

You know this how?...his experience behind the mike?

quote:

Much better than Tebow imo.

If the standard of "good at it" means better than Tebow, the standard is set quite low

I don't hate the guy or the fact he played at Bama. I'm laughing at the Bama fans proclaiming him a success.

The same fans that are trumpeting his future success in broadcasting were doing the same for his NFL career....and the facts show he sucked at NFL QB. His success at broadcasting is FAR from a given.

What's the bigger joke; his claim to be "unbiased" or his boast of saying "what I really think"?

It's like complaining about that or AJ running off the field and not shaking hands.

Completely understandable considering thousands of AU fans, a large number of them under the influence of alcohol, were pouring onto the field at the time.

If he stays on the field, 99.9999% chance nothing happens. But why give some drunken fool a shot?

Greggy Daddy's-boy >>>>> Jesse Palmer

If that's not damning with faint praise, I don't know what is.

I don't get why all the gumps are saying he will be a good analyst. They are basing the prediction on nothing.

It's based on his presence during interviews and his time as a guest analyst for the BCS title game.

We will see I guess. I'm not saying he will be good or bad because I did not see the bcs halftime stuff and I have never seen him interview.

Maybe Greggy will be able to break down the HUNH in a way that Saban will finally be able to understand it.

The guy is brilliant and carries himself very well in interviews. He was a finalist for a Rhodes Scholar for crying out loud. Will he be unbiased and work well with a panel of analysts? I have no idea. But the idea he can isn't based on "nothing".

So you admit not ever seeing him interviewed or his time giving analysis on TV, but then tell Bama fans they are basing their prediction that he will be a good analyst on nothing?

Seems to me you are the one that has nothing to base your prediction that he will suck.

If you were going that route, who would that person be if they were 30 - 40 years younger?

I was ok with Tebow, he is a good guy and was one of the best to ever play in the SEC, Palmer and McElroy make no sense to me. There are tons of SEC greats that could do a better job IMO.

Tebow is going to be the worst of the three. In every interview I ever saw him do "Um.....Um.....Um.....Um..." Then throw in that little lisp he has

McElroy can't possibly be a worse speaker than Tebow.

This.

One does not have to have a great NFL career to be a great broadcaster.

Here are two videos from an appearance on Fox Sports 1 back in January.

He's going to do just fine.

McElroy, Tebow, Palmer...are there any more gay former QBs that the SEC Network can find? Geez

If they want to hire a former Bama QB, hire Andrew Zow. He does a great job on the Birmingham station he's on, and actually has broadcasting experience.
