Todd had a bad shoulder that prevented him from being effective more than 15 yards down field. Auburn put up big numbers against MSU, WV, Ole Miss and scored three or more TDs agaisnt TN, AR, UGA and Bama. This with a brand new OL and a WR corp led by 175lb player that nobody recruited.
Ok, that's all fine, but using his numbers against Ball State and Furman as examples that Malzahn's offense could be lethal with a pass first QB isn't legitimate.

Stidham has 10 times more talent than Todd and the surrounding cast to make it happen.
Sure, nobody is arguing either of those things.

Weird, because I got mine from the same place and they said something different.
Look man, this isn't the first time you've been caught red handed embellishing stats to be in the favor of whatever point you're trying to make. Give up the act man, it's through, you're done.

I didn't mention those games. I saw what Gus did with Todd, and it was probably his most impressive job yet. People do not realize what TT left AU on the Offensive side of the ball. The Bama game was proof of how AU Offense would have beem more effective if not for Todds shoulder. Bama had all 11 players play within 10 yards of the LOS, because they knew Todd could not throw downfield.

Weird, they match for everything except QBR in which I actually gave Sean 10 pts on both P5 and non-P5 that he didn't actually have.

Cool photo shop. I learned how to do that in 9th grade, too.

Maybe against the sisters of the poor defenses...but otherwise, just no. Don't even go there.

Stidham is not Sean White. Their arm strength difference is like night and day and Stidham is even more accurate with his throws.

You know 6 of the 8 games that White started before he broke his arm against Georgia were against SEC teams?
LSU had the #10 total defense and we put up 400 yards and 6 scoring drives on them

quote:Yeah, you always state the same facts and stats about him. They're funny because they don't really tell the story that he was what he was. A decent SEC QB. Nobody's drooling over 9 TDs, 3 ints and 152 ypg in 11 games.
stated facts and statistics. Are you here to dispute any of them?
He's your boy, though and that's fine

And Arky, Ole Miss, MSU, etc sucked on defense.
SW's decent game was against LSU and even then, we still couldn't put the ball in the endzone once. So no, the offense wasn't humming along fine.

In those three games we averaged 45 points and 540 yards.
That's pretty fricking good against anybody. And a bad SEC defense is still better than any non-P5 defense and probably the bottom half of the rest of P5 teams as well.
If you are expecting 45 ppg and 540 ypg against the good defenses in this league then you're just delusional.

Hell, if we can just start scoring TDs against good defenses that would be alright, too.
Serious question, over the last couple years, how many touchdowns did our offense put up against LSU, Bama, and Georgia (you know, our main rivals)...combined!
Probably a handful.

quote:FWIW, you can throw out the first and last games in those stats.
Sean White in non-"injured" games vs P5 teams (Clemson, A&M, LSU, MSU, Arky, Ole Miss, Vandy)
92/138 (66.6%)
162 YPG
4 TD / 2 INT
Clemson because Gustav went full retard and had 4 other players taking snaps, so the offense was never remotely in synch, and Vandy because White was too hurt to start but inserted in the second half out of desperation for the same reason he started against UGa the following week - we simply didn't have another QB on the roster who didn't absolutely suck.
So the more accurate numbers for White (vs TAMU/LSU/Arky/Ole Freeze/Vandy) look like this:
72/104 (69.2%)
177.6 YPG* (
3 TD /1 INT
*YPG stat is somewhat misleading, as he only passed for 77 yards in a game that was essentially over after AU's first offensive snap - a more accurate measure would be SW's 8.5 yards per attempt in those 5 games.
Doesn't really invalidate your larger point, that White has the makings of a very capable backup. provided that Stidham can answer the call.

You managed to leave out one of his most impressive outings, his 284-yard, 4-TD effort in a driving rainstorm vs #25 West Virginia.
It was not raining during that game. I wad at the game. The bottom fell out before kick and they delayed the kickoff. Then it stopped raining and they played. The field drained so well, you could hardly tell it rained (expect for the soaked fans.)

just stated he has serious questions with Malzhan having success with his offense without a running QB
By all accounts the offense significantly changed with new OC Chip Lindsay. Chip has a background in air raid/QB coaching
More importantly, Stidham had some 30 rushing attempts in 3 games starting + was a dual threat put of HS
