Our offense is improving
Maybe. We will know more after this week. The problem with our offense (and Stidham against better defenses) is that the passing game is limited and we aren't running the ball effectively enough for Gus's pass concepts to be successful.

Gus throws screen passes and play action deep balls 90 percent of the time. If the running game is only getting 3 yards a carry and the QB isn't a huge threat to pull it and hurt you on the zone read, the play action deep balls aren't open (at least not against well coached/prepared defenses).

Because Auburn has the most un-objective fan base on this board Basically if you all aren't getting smoke and sunshine pumped up your asses 24/7 you ain't a happy group of campers

I think it’s more likely that that the downvotes reflect your lack of actual analysis in your “analysis”.

Pretty much accurate, I think we should make an auburn roller coaster like ATM.

Stidham is average as average can be, it's that simple. He isn't fast, and buckles under any sign of pressure and doesn't have the wheels to get himself out of it. So if state can muster some pressure it should be a close game. If they play mush I say barn by 7-10.

I'm not sure if this is a troll or just really lazy analysis. Anyone that has watched Stidham throw can see he is an excellent QB. He isn't a good fit for a Gus Malzahn offense, so he won't put up the stats he is capable of. If he were in an offense like Ok.State or West Virginia or Oklahoma or Ole Miss, he would be putting up great numbers.

Pretty much agree except for LB. They might be playing better than any position group on the team. Best we have had in a long time.

Seems like I was spot on in this analysis.

I don't think anyone can either QB pedestrian. Stidham is as accurate as you will find at QB, so if given a reasonable amount of time, he will hit the WR in the hands. With KJ back in the mix, AUs offensive line should be able to gel by stretching out the running game.

Before, it was Pettway up the middle. That made blitz packages so easy for opposing Ds. It was a very pedestrian coaching scheme initially. I have a sliver of hope someone on the coaching staff is able to recognize the obvious going forward.

What are Hurts passing stats against Fresno St and Colorado State
I really think they are holding back the passing game until they need it. I am not a Hurts hater, and I do think that He will be in NYC at some point in his career. I care nothing for the updykes, but give this guy some credit, he gud

I've watched his Baylor time and his current Auburn games. Yes he throws well when he has no pressure and all day. The fact still stands he doesn't have fast wheels, can't get out of pressure, buckles under pressure.

Yes the system he is in makes him average so maybe he should go back to the big 12 where they play no defense and pass 70 times a game.

Hurts is a Nick Marshall clone. He can throw the deep ball. He can beat you with his legs every day of the week. He is an athlete playing QB. Make him beat you on the short/intermediate pass, and you have them at a disadvantage.

He'd be incredible playing for a coach that doesn't have Down syndrome.

I would argue that the coach that recruited him and named him the starting QB should alter his offense to suit the QBs strengths, but I've been making that argument for 2 years and nothing has changed.

There is merit to this and I'm not saying this because I'm a Bama fan. I watch talent go in and out of Auburn and never be used. Gus is in over his head and needs to coach somewhere else.

Pearl I 100% agree with you. Why would you force a QB to be something he isn't?
