DL - State: I know Auburn fans aren't going to like this, but I think State's DL will have more of an impact on the game than Auburn's. Don't think for a second that the OL issues at Auburn have been fixed in two games. You just played two teams that couldn't expose them. Mercer has been playing football for 5 or so years and Mizzou has no defense. I think State can and will impact the game here. Auburn's D-Line will give State's OL fits as well being that they are built a little similar to Georgia's.

LB - State: With Stidham not being a running threat, Pettway only being able to go up the middle and Johnson only being able to go to the outside, Auburn's run attack may be easier to scheme against. State on the other hand may be able open some things up if their o-line can dominate the LOS which will be tough. Being that Fitz can pose a bigger threat with his legs, I think Auburn's LBs will have the tougher road

DB - Draw: With QB play potentially being pedestrian, I don't see either defensive backfield being in too much trouble. Both will be able to force picks with the aid of their respective front 7s.

This is where you are missing the boat completely. There are 3 elite defenses in the SEC this year: Bama, UGA & AU. I know it's weird for ppl to adjust to the fact that AU actually plays defense now but we do. State has a very aggressive attacking front 7 that I think is going to give us some fits especially in the run game. But their defense is not at the same level as AU's.

Between Auburn's defense and getting State at home, I think Tigers win by at least 10 in a hard fought game. State isn't as good as they looked against LSU but are better than they looked against UGA. I think they are the #3 team in the West and will give AU a great challenge. Mullen always plays us close (except for last year )

There is merit to this and I'm not saying this because I'm a Bama fan. I watch talent go in and out of Auburn and never be used. Gus is in over his head and needs to coach somewhere else.

All it's going to take is stretching the running game consistently. The first few games consisted of runs up the middle 90% of the time. The defensive line and LBs have to be kept honest. Clemson was able to collapse the pocket so often because they had zero incentive to keep perimeter containment. It was a terrible game plan by AU.

you are an updyke, so i start this by saluting you....BUT, you are a rarity, a smart updyke and you are correct about this quoted statement ....what is so sad is that there are still a lot of loser Aubies that can't see this ....coach doublebubble is our version of gerry faust

I agree, the Clemson game was very winnable IMO. Getting under center running some jet sweeps, toss sweeps and screen could have forced Clemson's interior to pause giving the backfield alittle extra time. Clemson knew they didn't need to get risky on the offensive side of the ball. The two turnovers were total gifts and if it were me I would have kicked a field goal at every turn.

Don't look to much into the Miss St/Georgia game. Mullen hasn't been able to figure out the Saban/Smart defense since he has been at State.

His team's have only scored more then 10 points one time in 9 games.

Look for Miss St to score some points this weekend.

That's what I'm afraid of. I still don't trust our offense to pound the ball against anybody yet. We've been watching the same 5 plays Malzahn has in his playbook for almost 7 years now.

I was highly disappointed in our LB's Saturday night, save for Dez Harris. For such a talented group they've were a letdown. I don't like us in this game simply because it's on the road. I would feel fairly confident otherwise.

He was at Alabama for 3 of his 30+ seasons as a coach. I wouldn't really say he's a "Saban" guy per se.

That's the problem, you can't. Pettway not being 100% and not have the agility or quickness to bounce outside makes it easier to stop the run. KJ being too small to go up the middle and essentially creates the same problem, you can key in on both easily.

Limited dataset (LSU '15 and AU '16) but Mullen hasn't exactly figured out Steele either.

Dude is fragile as frick and you know it. How many games has he missed due to injury? Saying that he is too small was a very bad choice of words, but the guy isn't a north south runner and he is more injury prone than Bo Scarbrough

couldn't possibly disagree more with your assessment on the defensive side.

Auburn has the best front 7 in the conference, not just starters either. Depth. We go 10 deep on the DL with very little drop off.

I chose this game this week because it is the most interesting to me. Georgia vs Tennessee is going to be a snooze fest unless Neyland Stadium can take out some of the Georgia players as it has done in the past.

Back to this game though. Both teams are 3-1 and are still trying to carve out their place in the west. Mississippi State has had, what was perceived at the time as, a big win at home against LSU. Auburn went on the road and played defensively well against Clemson, but the offense sputtered and they couldn't come up with the potentially huge W. State is coming off a very humbling trip to Athens and Auburn is coming off a "big" win against Mizzou where the return of K. Johnson has seemed to put a new spark into this Auburn offense. So let's get done to it shall we.

QB - Draw: Neither QB will look stellar in this game imo. Stidham isn't who Auburn hoped he would be and Fitzgerald is pedestrian when he isn't able to run off the zone read. Don't look for either to make much noise.

RB - Auburn: Being that State will go on the road again and face a defense that is similar to Georgia's, I can't see State's running game developing as it should to keep Auburn on its heels.

WR - Draw: With both QBs being pedestrian, I can't either receiving corps doing anything big this game.

OL/DL - State: I know Auburn fans aren't going to like this, but I think State's DL will have more of an impact on the game than Auburn's. Don't think for a second that the OL issues at Auburn have been fixed in two games. You just played two teams that couldn't expose them. K- Auburn: Legatron

Coaching: - State: This is the type of game Mullen will find a way to win. Gus will continue to do what he has always done, run it up the middle.
