US News has a different methodology... They all do. This one is based on ROI. shite, I graduated with zero debt in 2008 so I think the state's investment in my education (TOPS) worked out pretty well for me

Good god I hate school ranking lists. They're some of the most arbitrary lists ever made
Totally agree. In the SEC, the only university that is going to stand out on a resume when applying to a nationally competitive job is Vandy. The rest are just state schools with a reputation for great football, hot girls, and top 25 party rankings. No one is getting hired in New York or Chicago primarily because their resume says Texas A&M, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, etc...

Those same students know not to apply to AU because they know they will not get in.
Well that's just bullshite. People only apply to one or the other because they don't want to go to the rival school. Auburn has plenty of terrible students apply there- don't fool yourself

Actually, an Ole Miss degree carries a lot of weight in Memphis.

Vanderbilt

(but I would add that LSU and Arky grads do well in neighboring large states known for being arrogant flag waivers with ridiculous state pride. Like Missouri )

quote:Mad about what. LSU is ranked high on that list. But what i said is 100% true. In louisiana, you will get a job if you went to LSU. Same goes for UF in florida and etc. However, go to New Jersey or California and they wont give a rat's arse at the difference between UGA, Ole Miss, Uk etc...
Mad?

This is spot on IMO. Once you decide to go to an SEC school, you pretty much should commit to staying in the south

Maybe the SEC should put Harvard in the league so then they could have a top ten smart school

I'm not even sure I would get into Alabama now, if I was applying in 2013 as opposed to 2001. And I ended up getting a BS and MS in Civil Engineering.
Bama has had so much growth the last 4 years, that they have watered down the acceptance requirements. The scores that they report to the press do not include "special entrance" students. I know of a student that got in with an ACT score of 19 last year.

Yep. Just as an LSU degree goes a long way in Houston and Dallas.

UF is immune to your proposition right? Since we are all Yankees and all.
A degree for THE University of Florida should be worth a great deal all over the North and South according to rant logic.

Only if you don't plan on pursuing anything beyond an undergraduate degree. A degree from any SEC school will look good on an application to most graduate programs.

quote:No. I will admit UF has a far superior business school than LSU, but if we apply for a job in Seattle, they will just see two large southern SEC schools. They wont distinguish the two is my point

SC State pulling in strong at 148 out of 150. I guess it goes to show why none of those assholes knows how to use a trashcan. Way to rep Orangeburg.

235. Baylor(overrated)
I had a bartender at the Nashville airport tell me RG3 went to a good school. Baylor is a shitty shitty shitty school. It is weird outsiders perspectives.
