Don't you know, only Texas knows about the oil and gas industry. Nevermind they recruit the Hell out of Alabama, Mississippi State, LSU, AU, GT, etc.

Not much to talk about. The offseason is almost over and every stupid offseason topic has been debated to death. We are all just bitchy and ready for kickoff.

LSU's PE program is ranked in the top 10 nationally year in and year out.

Clearly an off-season topic

Interesting.

I always think of the Alabammer and Miss-ippi schools as the rough equivalents of 13th - 16th grade. Interesting to see that Ewe Tee goes in there as well. But I digress and agree with the general thread sentiment that there's probably not a helluva lot of difference in the SEC schools.

And Vandy probably doesn't carry significant enough clout from name recognition to put up with 4 years of pasty sorority girls, overpriced tuition, and sub-par athletics.

Any of the SEC's (well, just about any) is enough to get into a decent grad school.

I worked for Shell in Texas and Wyoming. I got to hear all about it. I've since left that industry for another.

I'm just being an arse to be an arse. It seemed easier than asking each a&m fan individually why a few more spots meant so much, because they typically come off as stupid so I can only guess they're citing to a wasted higher education. Guess it's a Texas thing

We haven't talked about auburn's temporary 'trees' in a while.

Amen...unless we go 0-8 in the conference again...in that case, let's talk books.

So you are trying to argue that Alabama alters their rankings because every redneck with a GED in the state applies to Alabama and gets denied while Auburn is such a prestigious institution that those types don't even try to apply to Auburn? Let's not even discuss the thousands of rednecks all over the state who go to Southern Union Community College and live in trailer parks while they wait for Auburn to accept them after they get their Associates Degree. The hypocrisy of Auburn fans is plain hilarious at times. The vast majority of both schools is made up of preppy white kids from the wealthy areas of Birmingham, Mobile, Montgomery, Huntsville, and out of state kids who could not get into UGA, GA Tech or Texas.

Or those at Shelton St. I was told that AL does not include "Special" entry students in their reported scores. Alabama has made a decision to grow beyond what the Alabama Education System is able to supply high qualified graduates. That is why the enrollment is over 50% out of state students. Alabama is trying to boost their scores by offering large amount of schalorships to instate students.

Has any SEC school been ranked below the Mississippi schools, on any list, before?

Did I not just give LSU props for being a good engineering school?

Wait, was it this thread. Whatever.

I will say it here:
LSU HAS A DAMN FINE ENGINEERING SCHOOL!!! LSU is way underrated on that list and on most lists. Quit painting with a broad brush!

I'm wondering if anybody realizes we have OSU and Oregon lurkers here who are laughing their butts off at this. At least I would hope they are. Not because of the rankings, but because so many here think this is important. It isn't. What defines "top"? If I wanted an engineering degree then A&M, LSU, Auburn, or Florida would all be very good choices compared to any other school in the country. If I wanted a business degree... well, I actually have no idea as that doesn't interest me. Doctor, lawyer: again, no idea. But I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be the first four I mentioned. Why is that important when talking about the "best" school?

I work for a world wide engineering company based here in the USA. We do work in the gas, oil and chemical world. We have a couple of A&M engineering grads. They regularly get put in their place. Everyone is trying to figure out how they got hired in the first place.

They probably got hired because A&M is one of the top 5 petroleum engineering schools in the nation, but this is all assuming that you didn't just make shite up.
