Yea Pomona at 2 completely discredits the entire list.

I don't know how I even missed West Point at 7 ahead of Harvard. Ranking actual universities next to liberal arts colleges is retarded to begin with, but actually putting West Point in the top 10 not to mention ahead of Harvard is beyond dumb.

Seemed bizarre to me as well but their list is based on ROI largely. I mean look at Tulane (128).

Read the methodology and you might not be too impressed with how the list was formed.

LSU seems to be about where it's been in most rankings lately of not worse...it's the other schools in the sec that look out of place

Good god I hate school ranking lists. They're some of the most arbitrary lists ever made, just say your parameters. Highest starting salary, highest percentage placement upon graduation, lowest acceptance rate, or 25% placement / 25% salary, 25% drug supply, etc..

Education is the responsibility of the individual. These lists are only good for ego stroking and dick measuring contests.

I mean seriously...what in the heck UT.

First you allow your football program to drop below Vandy's football program. Then you let your academic programs drop below both MS schools on an academic list (it doesn't even matter what criteria they used to come up with the list). I'm not sure which is worse...wait a minute, being below the MS schools on an academics list is probably way worse.

Alabama is a lot better than given credit for, but your statement is a bit homerish.

Says the fan of the school near the bottom middle.

I'm not even sure if you are in the bottom middle or the middle bottom. I just wanted to say what's up.

The Mississippi schools aren't as bad as publicized. The reason they are shite on is because of our entrance requirements. Both are quality schools.

It's bad when MS can say "Thank God for Tennessee".

I love when they use acceptance rate. Every bammer with a GED is applying for acceptance into the school, so they can party and get football tickets. What the survey needs to show is the ACT/SAT Score of those turned away.

First Tier (1-50)

37. Vanderbilt

Second Tier (51-150)

74. Florida
90. Georgia
122. Texas A&M

Third Tier (151-250)
quote:

179. LSU
190. S. Carolina
205. Alabama
208. Missouri
209. Arkansas
225. Auburn

Fourth Tier (251+)
quote:

257. Kentucky
278. Ole Miss
279. Miss St.
282. Tennessee

I don't think the numbers matter as much as what Tier these schools fall into.

As has been discussed before the Mississippi Schools are doomed by the Ayers case. Nothing we can do about it.
