I'll take that. I guess I kinda deserved it.

We will never consider Missouri a southern state.

There was more misery after the Civil War in our south that didn't affect St. Louis... Birmingham, Philadelphia, Mississippi, Selma to Montgomery, Little Rock, Memphis, Atlanta.. Segregation Now, Segregation Tomorrow and Segregation Forever. Wallace's Stand in Tuscaloosa. Ole Miss. I could go on and on. There are many other things that bind the southern states than just the fricking civil war. Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana and the panhandle of Florida. I really don't feel Virginia or Kentucky are southern. So, there is your south. You just joined a sports conference Missouri. You are as southern as Oklahoma, Kansas and the other mid west states.

All right. You guys are deep south. Whatever. Every state can be the south. But that is a cool story. I'm a James and Jesse had family in north east Alabama where my people are from.

I think the struggle cut pretty deep here. But I'm not a history major. Maybe Missouri had the same civil rights struggle as Mississippi and Alabama. It just pisses me off when all that counts is the Civil war.

And I'm sorry for blowing up.

It was uncalled for.

No one ever said that. And perhaps you're taking my thread too seriously.

You, too, didn't read between the lines.

Is this real? If so that's remarkable. What do they have to say about Jesse James? (Not pointing fingers - I'm genuinely interested.)

I just think getting riled up over the Civil War in 2013 is pointless, but that's just me

And the constant dick measuring over which states are "southern" enough is laughable.

I think that all of you who are so proud of your confederate heritage do your best to convey this message to the predominately black football team that you cheer for every week.

I guarantee you that they don't give a shite that 10 or 20 of your relatives died for the "southern cause". They probably think it cool that the mofos were eliminated from the gene pool.

Find your favorite black player on twitter and begin tweeting your southern pride and the glory that went with the "war of northern aggression". I don't you'll get a "that cool bro" response.

Thanks for the link. That was interesting. The line "How can we say Quantrill is guilty of these crimes if Gen. Lane is not, if Gen. Sherman is not, if Gen. Custer is not?" gives pause for a moment, until you try to figure out how many civilians Lane, Sherman, or Custer killed. Sherman burned everything and isn't a popular figure in Georgia, Alabama, or Mississippi, but nobody blames those generals for murdering civilians.

This started with asking about Jesse James (my bad?). I can't think of a military reason, particularly after the war, for robbing banks and trains. To me his defenders are all about taking it to the Yankees, when the truth was more like "we rob banks because that's where the money is."
