Y'all are still a bunch of yankees.

I don't know if I qualify as a Yankee either. My ancestors weren't even in this country when guys were fighting for the right to own black people.

Unfortunately, you didn't read between the lines of the OP.

The Missouri black flagging ruffians also never formally surrendered unlike some Confederacies I know. In Missouri, if you were decapitated you were considered to have surrendered.

Nah, I realized later that Mizzou was playing USCe. It's just that both schools are so irrelevant that I had to be reminded they were playing this weekend.

In Missouri, surrender occurred when a native son was decapitated by the sword or axe. Only then could a Missourian be considered 'surrendered'."

Why has this tradition been stopped?

Because no one is strong enough to make Missourians bend the knee.

Even you Texas pussies couldn't do it.

Who cares? I don't judge the south by who fought for what side in the civil war but by culture.
Here are the southern states based on

Religion-Baptist
Food-Beans and taters
Accent-Southern
Heritage of founders-Scotch, Irish who brought what are considered southern traits today.

Alabama
Georgia
Miss
Tenn
South Carolina

I ride a bike through the Vicksburg Military Park most every day. You guys were way screwed up!

quote:

The Missouri State Memorial is located just south of the Stockade Redan on Confederate Avenue, tour stop 10, at milepost 10.9 of the park tour road. It is unique as the only state memorial on the battlefield dedicated to soldiers of both armies. The height is symbolic of the forty-two Missouri units, 27 Union, 15 Confederate. It stands where two opposing Missouri regiments clashed in battle.

Just want to add that yesterday, the jury cleared Capt. William Clarke Quantrill's name in finding him not guilty of alleged crimes in the righteous and justified raid on Lawrence.

The trial was conducted by the University of Missouri Law School's HATTS group.

Is this real? If so that's remarkable. What do they have to say about Jesse James? (Not pointing fingers - I'm genuinely interested.)
