I'm absolutely expecting wins over Central Arkansas, UTEP, and Tulane.

I don't think our fanbase is expecting a bowl game. I think our fanbase really expects the team to compete and play passionately.

I'm not expecting us to play to the wire with Bama and LSU. However, I am expecting us to not lay down and get our shite pushed in by both of those teams again. If they win by 30+ (which is probable), so be it. At least make them earn it a little bit this season.

I'm not expecting to beat State either. I am expecting to be in the game at the start of the fourth quarter though and at least play hard.

So, to answer your question, expectations in Oxford are low for 2012.

Fortunately- I caught this before you edited:

" With that said, Freeze is expected to get us to a bowl game in 2013 without a doubt."

Thats pretty ambitious with a schedule that has you @Vandy, @State, @Auburn, and @A&M...as well as Bammer, LSU, and UPig on campus. That's a tough road to get you guys to Shreveport

I didn't want to get off topic of the OP.

Shreveport sucks, I'm aiming for the bowl in Birmingham

Not a flame to any OM fans, but this season is gonna feel like the 2009 seasons for both State and OM flip flop IMO. It just goes to show how fast a rivalry can turn. I think y'all go into the egg bowl wanting it more than you have ever in the past 3 years, I think the game will come down to the wire; hopefully state can pull the victory though

I know exactly what you mean. Back in 2008 and 2009, I used to kid my State friends about how they "weren't our rival."

Now, since I've been to the past three Egg Bowls and seen State outscore Ole Miss 103-53, I want to beat those Maroon-clad bastards more than ever.

Here are some interesting stats from State's three-game win streak:
Rushing yards
Mississippi State - 774
Ole Miss - 247
Rushing yards per carry
Mississippi State - 4.9
Ole Miss - 2.7
Third down conversions/attempts
Mississippi State - 18/42 (42.9%)
Ole Miss - 12/46 (26.1%)

damn. I never really looked into it. If you still have the link to those stats, could you post the 4th down conversion. I'm not sure if it's just me but I felt like both teams went for it on 4th down a shite ton the past couple years.

2009 4th Down Conversions
Mississippi State - 1/1
Ole Miss - 2/2

2010 4th Down Conversions
Mississippi State - 0/1
Ole Miss - 2/5

2011 4th Down Conversions
Mississippi State - 0/1
Ole Miss - 2/4

2009-2011 4th Down Conversions
Mississippi State - 1/3 (33.3%)
Ole Miss - 6/11 (54.6%)

That's right, there have been seven successful fourth down conversions on fourteen attempts in the past three Egg Bowls

You have the home and away completely swip-swapped there.

He's referring to the 2013 season...and the likelihood of bowl eligibility by then

Oh shite.

Well shite, that's two seasons from now. 2012 hasn't even kicked off yet, so talking about 2013 is, frankly, a waste of time.

We gave LSU it's best game besides Bama, Lost to 11 win USCe by 2, barely lost to Auburn, etc.

Yep. And also played Bama pretty tough, too. I think that heartbreaker at Auburn is what sent MSU's season down the wrong track last year. I definitely don't think their 7-6 record was indicative of the quality of the team. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see significant improvement in the record this year. I could easily see y'all getting over the hump against Auburn, and trading a road game at Georgia for a home game with Tennessee can't hurt, either. Another 9-win season is very possible, IMO, and even 10 is not out of the question.
