Texas has an endless budget and incredibly fertile recruiting grounds. That's what makes a job attractive. They could easily be #1 on this list and it make sense.

This surprised me as well, I think you have to have Michigan State lower if you are going to have Michigan at 12. I think Michigan should be in the top 10 anyway though.

I won't disagree with you on that. I would like to see more results of everything, post expansion. Like how the SEC hurts TX recruiting. Also how TCU, and even Baylor move forward, when they have to look for a new coach.

Fits right into my "multiple coach" theory. If they bring in someone else post Dantonio and keep wining 10 games a year, then they are a top 20 program. I have my doubts.

Ya but I don't really mind Michigan State at 17 if Michigan was in the top 10

Plus, who would you really put ahead of MSU. I don't think you can put Penn St or Stanford ahead.

This school is tough for me because I feel like they have many limitations but they have made some great hires and are very relevant.

I agree. They have many great coaches, and players.(ETA: in their history) But they certainly have limitations. Academics, not to mention all the other FBS schools in the state, including one they will never be ahead of.

nah now that they can't juice their entire team their recruiting base has caught up with them. They produce less talent than Arkansas does.

I think 5-7 is about our max. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

OK, explain to me why anyone else should be placed ahead of you at the #2 spot.

Both Florida schools and OSU too high.

Dude, OSU is easy mode right now.

Win a pretty easy conference, recruit against practically nobody in your region, get paid obscene amounts of money.

History, money, better recruiting base, and for USC, tOSU, UTx, FSU, an easier conference.
Why would you have us #2.
Oh, and how could I forget, we are ready to fire anyone, and everyone, for a dropped pass.

Why the popcorn. I doubt any Aggie fan thinks they are a better job than Texas, in football.

They still have great fan support, 20-25 seems ok for me. They have fallen a lot though.

Exactly, don't think you are going to get anyone to bite on that.

With this "endless budget" (which is also overblown) there comes the attitude of those people that they run the program. You aren't going to tell someone who donates 10 mill a year how you're gonna spend his money. No coach will ever have complete control of that program. Ask Mack Brown. Remember Fred Akers famous comment when asked by a writer what he thought of the booster comment that he would be gone after 86 if he didn't win the SWC? Akers said they can all (boosters)go straight to hell.
As far as fertile recruiting, meh, yea but not any more so than the southeast.
Everything about that program is overblown. The Longhorn Network is struggling mightily. How many of you watch it much? Nobody does but Longhorn fans. THey aren't the Global enterprise that Notre Dame is. They built up tons of wins playing bottom feeders Rice, Baylor, TT, SMU, TCU. There have literally been dozens of seasons in their history where they would play 1 top 20 team during the season and that was OU.

Better recruiting base? haha

History? What about it?

Money? Hmm..I'll give you a pass because of your budget issues.

Easier conference? Ding ding, that's undeniably correct.

Why #2? Well, I would actually have LSU tied at the top spot with the right coach. But Bama gets the nod simply because Saban has remained there for years, and made it it the top program, again. LSU is actually better situated, geographically, and is the only big game in the entire state of La. You've got the digs. The passion is perhaps second only to Bama, and you have the best recruiting situation of any other program..anywhere. You cherry pick La, co-recruit at the top for east Texas, can hit deep in FL, and recruit coast to coast. There's why.
