Not saying they should, but I think UTx is the only one you could put ahead of Bama. They grow money, have amazing instate talent, and in what could very likely be considered the 2nd best conference.
I just think that at some point you have to stop looking at all the reasons we "think" Texas should be a great job and realize that since 1971 it has not been even a Top 10 job.
Post D-Royal they have finished in the Top 25 in 24 of 38 years (13 of those 24 under Mack Brown). They have finished in the Top 10 10 of those 38 years (6 under Mack Brown).
It's a place you can win big, obviously, but I just don't think it is the "above everyone else" spot that people say it is. With all that money comes strings and rich, arrogant, out of their element people trying to be involved.

Texas is still a top 3 job imo. The right guy will have Texas back on top. It is silly that you can get a top 10 or 11 recruiting class after 6 wins. Not many schools can do something like that.

Think this has been the main problem. There administration has been horrible the past few years.

I'm sure I'm biased, but IMO every SEC job outside of Vandy, State, and Kentucky is a top 20 job.
The facilities, available money, draw of the SEC, and fan bases put it in a class above.
Even South Carolina, who is a historical lower tier program proved that with the right coach, they will pour money in and win 11 games consecutive seasons.

State at #36 is quite the stretch. Ole Miss above SC and State is a joke too.

I agree with your idea but I think top 20 is a little high. All Sec schools should and do get a bump from being in this conference.

They need a Nick Saban type (I said TYPE, not THE) to come in and burn their rotting forest to the ground like he did at Alabama with the old Bear Bryant culture.

The problem with Texas, is Texas.
They think they're upper echelon in football, but they're the all time most underachieving program there is.
They've won what, 3 national titles as the main school in Texas over their entire history.
They're an inflated ego school, and that's it.

Alabama's problem was living in the past of Bear Bryant.
Texas' problem is living in alternate fantasy world where they have a past like Bear Bryant because of $$$$$$$$.

LSU should be #2, then Ohio State. Texas at #3 is too high. Miami at 21....no.

I didn't say they should be ranked higher. Actually, I agree with the top 10, outside of flipping Florida and FSU. I was just saying, I think Texas is the only school, you could possibly make an argument for, to put ahead of Bama.

Arkansas is a top 25 job? Really pays to be in the SEC I guess.

LSU should be #2,
I wish.
I think 5-7 is about our max. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Theoretically I agree (although I also think Ohio State).

Georgia and LSU are very similar, but I give the nod to LSU because the majority of kids in Louisiana feel a pull to LSU. Not all kids in Georgia (especially Metro Atlanta) feel that same pull.

I honestly don't think anything I said is so off wall, that it is lol funny.

Texas thinks they have a past like Alabama, Ohio State, etc. Even when They had Royal, they didn't win as much as they could have. Especially title wise.

Yea, if LSU wasn't the only major program in the state, I think they would be lower.
I think I am just looking at their potential, at least more than you.

Better than Hokie fans. They act like they have the history of Michigan. When in fact, they look up to Ole Miss.

Sure, I mean I agree, I just feel like at some point maybe we have to admit we have overvalued some of their assets (money, facilities, "the school" of Texas) in relation to being a great football program.
