Agreed, it was going to be a painful switch anyway, the lack of talent just made it tougher.

No question about that. I wonder what Bielema would have done with some of Hootie's better players. Would have been pretty scary for the rest of the SEC.

I've always thought about what Bielema could've done with McFadden.

Ya that 2006 team would of been very scary with a good coach

A&M has absolutely no business being ranked ahead of Auburn and Tennessee

It's comical.

Also can't believe no one has mentioned BAYLOR being at 22.

I think someone else made a good point about it earlier in the thread, most of that is because of the success of their current coach but that all could change if/when he leaves.

I think the best way to rank these jobs is to look over the last 50 years and see how many of these programs have had sustained success or at the very least success under multiple head coaches.

If you are a program who has only won with a certain head coach then you are not a Top 25 coaching spot.

Notre Dame 11? Michigan 12?

These are both top 5-6 jobs. Terrible list.

Yep, makes sense. Those jobs might still be good/great 2-3 years down the road after the coach leaves but eventually they will fall back to their historic spot in college football

LSU should be #1. If you're the coach there you won't get fired even if the administration wants to fire you and let's everyone know they are going to fire you.

I would move Ohio State down a few spots, FSU down several spots, Notre Dame up some and at least argue that Texas should be number 1 and USC number 3. Honestly, Tennessee should probably be ahead of Auburn being a state school and Michigan should be top 5 at least.

I think Ohio State might be #1, honestly.

yeah I'm not sure why people are saying OSU should be lower. Don't see how anyone could argue them being lower than #3

They are the only program in a big state that produces tons of talent, they have great history. Ohio State has won 10+ games for 12 of the last 14 seasons. They've won national titles until 2 separate coaches in the last 15 years. They've played for 4 national titles over that same period.

Their last 4 coaches at Ohio State

Woody Hayes - 205-61-10 (74%), 3 National Titles
Earle Bruce - 81-26-1 (75%), 0 National Titles
John Cooper - 111-43-4 (70%), 0 National Titles
Jim Tressel - 94-22 (81%), 1 National Title
Urban Meyer - 50-4 (93%), 1 National Title

I think the only way you can not have Bama at #1, if Saban were to retire tomorrow is, not wanting to follow one of the GOAT's.
Not saying they should, but I think UTx is the only one you could put ahead of Bama. They grow money, have amazing instate talent, and in what could very likely be considered the 2nd best conference. Granted, I do believe A&M in the SEC, does hurt their recruiting base, some.
