I'm going to wade into the quagmire...

Tim Tebow deserves to be first team all SEC. Mallet does have better stats, but this honor, as with almost every honor in colegiate football, is NOT solely based on objective facts. Never has been, never will be. Never should be, IMO.

Tebow is one of those rare players that can lift an entire team, almost every time he steps on the field..he simply elevates the play of the entire team. Maybe its as simple as some guys thinking "Tebow is on MY side. We've got this."

Whatever the reason, it is this totally subjective quality that causes the media to fawn over him, causes him to be in the running for awards that other might not be given the same stats.

Mallet does not have this quality. No other player in the SEC currently has it. Tebow does. Every team that plays the Gators is worrying about what Tim Tebow is going to do.

I promise you that LSU players, UGA players, etc., are/were more worried about Tebow than Mallet. Maybe their worries are misplaced if going solely on stats, but the fact is that Tim Tebow brings something to the game that almost no one else currently does. And people recognize it.

That is why he will win honors that Mallet will not.

I still see Mallett as the 1st team SEC QB, but your response is 100% logical and fair.

I don't believe mystic should be a factor in granting awards, but if that is how most view it then I will remain in the minority.

Tebow's numbers are weak this season for sure.

wow. I come back from work and this thing is still going strong. Not going back 4 pages, but I did see Spikes mentioned and I think he should be dropped down to 2nd team ALL-SEC because of the Eye-gouging. But it was pretty stand up of him to further his suspension to the entire game rather than the 1st half. So that could be a pretty good make-up step for 1st team

Mallett was the better QB the when Florida and Arkansas played. Tebow got one long pass on a blown coverage, Mallett threw a brilliant 75 TD pass (at future NFL DBs) that Tebow will never make, no matter how hard he prays to Jesus. Tebow threw a likely interception that was negated by a no call on a offensive pass interference penalty by Riley Cooper.

Tim Tebow is the SEC leader in:
Career Rushing TD's
Season Rushing TD's
Total Offense in a Season
Touchdown Responsibility in a career
Touchdown Responsibility in a season
Touchdown Responsibility in a game
Passing Efficiency for Career
Ratio of Attempts to Interceptions

This makes Tebow what he is. One of the most difficult players to prepare for in the history of this conference. This season may not have the stats of his previous years, but he is still the emotional leader of an undefeated team riding a 20 game win streak. He has earned the respect of every coach in this league and pretty much of all of its fans. He has earned the right to be the All SEC QB.

But in 3 weeks you will hear about it from every Hog fan, ESPN, and media out let out there when the Tebow love-fest robs the SEC's best QB of a deserved honor.

I don't think Mallet is the best player in the country this year either.

The Heisman is a joke, labeled an award for the best player in the country it goes to an offensive skill position player every year... provided the player is on a highly publicized team anyway

When you go back and look at the list of players who won and it has Jason White instead of Reggie White you gotta just say it's fricking retarded

Read opening post and first reply, but I disagreeI(with majority/minority, clueless here) Ryan is IMO better than Tim.
