None of our 3 options are statues. All move pretty well.

Maybe but I've heard Hurts is much faster than your other two options. He's the one I'm most concerned about.

If Hurts lives up to the hype he is generating, then the rest of college football is screwed. Bama is loaded at every other position.

With guys like Mitchell and Smith-Schuster at the wideouts and Ronald Jones, II and Jalen Davis at RB you have a chance additionally you have an X factor with Adoree Jackson who everyone in the country was willing to pay good money to sign...including Alabama.

You guys are playing on Turf which could favor your speed. Also, I think your LB's in the 5-2 set up are very much 1st and 2nd round caliber players with excellent.
speed

Thinking the 5-2 set up may make running the ball a little tough. Keep it close on Bama into 4th quarter...aside from the Clemson game last year, Bama and Saban tend to get nervous if they can't put it away by then. Plus I think Pruitt is no Kirby Smart...he's not even Will Muschamp.

Hurts, from all indications, is certainly an above average to elite runner/pocket mover. He does things that we haven't had a QB be able to do (except for maybe Blake Sims). Bateman and Barnett are both above average in terms of their feet.

It's the first game of the year.
People saying that USC has no chance are f-ing crazy. USC consistently recruits in the top 10 and last season hauled in the best class in the country. Both teams are loaded with talent.

Yeah, USC has a new coach, but Alabama has three new coaches. Alabama is replacing their defensive coordinator, defensive line coach, and strength and conditioning coach. People thinking Alabama's defense isn't going to be prone to giving up big plays the first few weeks of the season are setting themselves up for dissapointment. Especially when you start to consider the defensive talent leaving so soon to the start of the season. (yeah, yeah, these guys were being passed on the depth chart, but the outgoing guys still figured on playing time and Alabama is going to miss them.)

I really think that USC stands a very good chance of winning this game because I think that they are going to be anxious to prove their worth against and SEC opponent like Alabama, and their talent is going to be able to put the ball in the end zone in week one. Now if this game was played like week three, I wouldn't give USC much of a chance.

Not as fast as Mitchell and Smith Schuster and defintely not as fast as Jackson.

That means that if Saban's halftime adjustments are not working after the 3rd quarter your odds of beating him are pretty damned good. He likes to be in control going into the fourth quarter, if not he sort of relies on the other team making mistakes like LSU does. Go up against a competent plan with a competent QB like Meyer did and Freeze does and the other team has real good chance....especially teams that are balanced and USC is balanced in the run game and the passing game.

Defensively Guys like Cameron Smith and Porter Gustin are every bit as good as Alabama's LB's and Adoree Jackson and Tell are going to be Very VERY good and will give a first time starter QB a lot to think abouton long and intermediate passes....Porter is big enough at 6'5" -255 to hang with any tight end in the country and probably as fast as or faster than most of them and that is not an exaggeration.

Alabama should have an advantage on the O-line and that's no small detail, but this is much more of an even match up than most Gumps would care to have at the beginning of the season....not saying you might not win, but don't be surprised if you lose because USC is just physical enough to put up with you guys and I give them the edge in skill players

USC has more than three new coaches, including defensive coordinator, defensive line coach who has never been a defensive line coach before, offensive coordinator who has never been an offensive coordinator before, o-line coach, etc.

There are no other SEC opponents like Alabama. There is only Alabama. And since 2010 SC has been anxious to simply prove their worth against the PAC-12 south, let alone Bama.

As another SC poster wrote, our O-line is overrated. And I mean vastly overrated. We have an okay D-line but with no depth. Factor in mediocre at best coaching and SC could easily lose this game by 20+. I expect this game to be close-ish at halftime and then Bama ultimately wins by 17 points.

Regardless, I'll be at Jerry World in a suite with open bar so at least I got that going for me, which is nice.

Well I anticipate you having a very good time, indeed.
I think USC wins this game.

So, even though Toes is (self-admittedly) being a bit of a DD, the one thing that gives me hope is the defense. It's ahead of schedule, according to the coaches, and the players are very very talented.

Of course Bama has the same type of players, which negates any edge we might have there.

I just don't expect Bama to be able to move the ball with any more efficiency than we do. I know who is calling their plays.

Of course they do. We playing a college football blueblood. Playing wiscy last year, Meh, I knew they'd hang for a minute but had no chance of beating us. Sc will have the material wiscy or vatech didn't have.

Once again, people dont know the facts. Bateman has actually spent some time at wideout as well but as far as speed goes.

I'm not so sure. I know he works with some of the best players in the country at Bama, but I don't have a lot of faith in him as a person. The water's not so fresh as it looks.

That is what I really expect to happen. Sooner or later a let down game is bound to happen. I just get that feeling Bama, while extremely more talented, plays poorly

Our let down games usually occur at the end of the year, never in the first game of the year under Saban.
