Pretty much hit it on the head with the strengths and weaknesses. The thing to watch out for with USC is they have some VERY talented players at individual positions. However, this game would have been much more epic in 2017. It's Helton's first full year and there's going to be kinks.

Yea - I think USC's shot to win the game is to play mistake free, hit a big play or two, cause the new Bama QB's to make some mistakes and keep Alabama out of the endzone.

Unlike a lot of teams, USC has the explosive athletes to make plays against us if they get a chance.

The only reason anybody is excited about this game is because it's a matchup of two household logos and that's where comparison will end.

USC has good athletes but they are a bunch of lions led by a sheep going against a bunch of sheep led by a lion. Refer to your handy pocket Sun Tzu reference guide to see how that turns out.

Saban's teams seem to have problems facing competent and mobile competent QB's

But USC isn't going to have one of those

Actually we do, RSF Sam Darnold. He's a stud, currently locked in a battle with former 5star Max Browne. Most SC fans are hoping Darnold wins the job outright.

Who would you compare him to, mobility wise?

Of course they have a chance.

They are a solid team. If Alabama comes out and turns it over a bunch or USC catches some breaks, they could easily win.

So, if Bama beats themselves?

I mean, lets be honest. Outside of 4-5 programs in America, don't most teams need to create turnovers to score enough to beat Alabama?

It isn't some sort of insult.

You've waited three pages for an opportunity to say that?

That is what I really expect to happen. Sooner or later a let down game is bound to happen. I just get that feeling Bama, while extremely more talented, plays poorly

We've had plenty of let down games the last 4-5 years. Sometimes we can't overcome them, but most of the time we grind out wins, because GENERALLY our defense doesn't have let downs and GENERALLY we don't turn the ball over 4-5 times.

Our system, strengths and talent level gives us a pretty wide margin for error. However, new guys always have risks.

Sometimes teams don't have to "create" them. Like Auburn last year, if your QB/team sucks, you're going to gift the other teams turnovers. You can call it beating yourself, or you can call it sucking

That's a good question. He's a bit like Tebow, size wise. 6'4 230, very athletic for a kid that big. He'll be a great one before it's all said and done. That's how highly I think of him.

Let's hope for sooner, rather than later. I would love for a young QB to give bama fits and make it a close one. Just don't let it be another bammer blowout, IT'S ALL ON YOU, SINGLE USC FAN ON THIS BOARD

I didn't really specify whether it was us being dumb or them making plays, because it doesn't really matter how it happens, it just matters that they get short fields or points in ways that don't involve long drives against our defense.

Because, outside of a few special offenses, teams are going to struggle to make big plays against us, and they are REALLY going to struggle going on 12 play, 80 yard drives. So, the best way to negate that is scoring on special teams or with turnovers.

it's usc, not old dominion ... they have great athletes on their team, just not as many (probably) as bama ... they absolutely could win the game ...

I can't disagree. Y'alls defense is going to be as scary as ever, but I just wanna see some close games

What quarterback do the majority of Bama fans want to start against USC?

Batemen - Looked bad last year in limited action, mostly vs. Wisconsin. Been with the program forever. At one point moved to wide receiver for a short amount of time. Is that accurate?

Barnett - 5 star all word recruit but somehow has not run away with the job as some expected to. What has been holding him back?

Hurts - Hype galore but would still be a true freshman in the SEC which is never ideal

Not flaming or trolling at all. Just curious who you guys prefer. From an outsiders perspective it has the feel of the Marcus Randall/Jamarcus Russell situation where Saban started Randall for the experience/trust factor and Russell had to come in and bail him out a few times before eventually taking over.
