Honestly, just based on the things I've read and the reactions I've read from people who I know don't generally talk about a kid this way, I'm totally in line with starting Hurts.

But, frankly, I've wanted a certain guy to start before and it didn't happen and it turned out fine. So really, I'm content with whatever the braintrust decides is the best way to win.

The 1978 rematch game did not disappoint as USC traveled to Birmingham for a convincing 24-14 road victory. This was the third game of the season for both teams. Southern Cal was truly loaded on both sides of the ball with legends such as Ronnie Lott, Charles White, Anthony Munoz and some kid named Marcus Allen.

Head coach John Robinson claimed his first national championship that year according to the coaches poll while Alabama won the AP national championship with it’s Sugar Bowl win over Penn State.

Both teams finished with one loss, going 11-1, and both teams won their bowl game but in the head-to-head matchup, USC was victorious, so you can decide who was the true champion that year.

Interesting.

USC has 2 nfl corners, returns their staring online, has arguably the number 1 wr in nation, 2 very good experienced running backs / Bama has arguably top defense in nation, very talented wr group, solid online, possibly elite, but new parts........both starting new quarterback????? Both have talented athletes and first game of the year, could easily come down to turnovers and big plays. Looking forward to a great college football game!!

I hate it was done neutral site. Both schools have such strong traditions. I'd love to watch it either at The Coliseum or Bryant-Denny. Home-home would have been awesome.

52 NFL 1st Round Picks (5th of 129)
743 Weeks in AP Poll (5th of 129)

USC

I would have gone if it was at Bryant-Denny (I actually really like Tuscaloosa), but I have zero interest is shelling out big dollars to watch on the jumbotron in Jerrysworld

I know basically nothing about USC. Is Kessler still around or did he move on. I would have liked to see him against Alabama's defense. He put up some big numbers the last couple years.

Kessler is done. If he were back this would be a much different game. Felt for Kessler. He had 4 different head coaches (Kiffin, Orgeron, Sarkisian, Helton) during a shitshow.

Damn I was thinking he was back. Well that changes my outlook on this game.

Let's hope for sooner, rather than later. I would love for a young QB to give bama fits and make it a close one. Just don't let it be another bammer blowout, IT'S ALL ON YOU, SINGLE USC FAN ON THIS BOARD

He's got company.

I think Sam Darnold gives us the best chance to win. He isn't as big a threat to go deep as Browne is at QB, but he's a gifted athlete, and can get out of the pocket and make things happen. Defenses hate that shite. I know ours does. Which is why I hope Bama start a statue QB instead of that young fella that can move.

If SC can establish the run, we can win. I don't care how good Bama's secondary is, if SC runs the ball well, the passing game will open up, and we've got some good receivers to complement JuJu Smith.

We actually have depth now, for the first time since the Reggie Bush sanctions. We just don't know how well they'll perform, especially the D-line. I think the LB's are actually pretty beastly. You're going to see Porter Gustin and Odewale Betiku sack whoever is under center for Bama more than a few times.

All this is a huge ask for SC though, seeing as how Bama has arguably the best and deepest front 7 in the nation.

If we do manage to pull off a win, I'd be pretty stoked though. There's no doubt nobody expects us to win. That's actually a good thing from the players' perspective.

I'm thinking about going anyway and getting a discounted ticket. Your choice is the sensible one, but I tend to lose my mind a little around the start of the season.
