3rd most prolific season in SEC History for total yards last year, with no offensive talent around him (per the rant). What's there to be scared of?

Would gladly take an Aaron Murray or Zach Mettenberger over him.
No kidding. Hell I'd even take Johnny Manziel or Tom Brady over that guy.

He's a perfect fit for that offense, much like Tebow was.
Put Murray or Mettenberger into that offense and we'd all have a laugh.
Doesn't mean he's a better QB than either of those two, jut a better fit for the system.
Spot on . Outstanding observation. Good job !

Maybe he should scare me more, but he really doesn't. I think we'll beat him up pretty good.
You're gonna learn the hard way / get grinded.
or ground..
nah, it's grinded..

He is a very good QB. Not sure what he has around him though.
Herein lies the problem for many SEC fans that concentrate their attention only on their own team's talent. (I recommend spending some time looking closely at the talent on the opposition.)
With most of his receivers returning, an older roster (age, numbers of letters, class), and a couple of pretty good running backs including a freshman who was rated .91 or so, about the 10th in the country last year... I see State's offense possibly or even probably being better this year than last. And don't think that if Dak gets hurt, they are finished. His backup looks (on paper) to be pretty good.
Defensively, State has always fielded a tough unit and on paper they look senior-ish, and solid. If there is a question about State this year, here is where it probably lies...how this unit gels and how their linebackers perform. Secondary looks pretty stout.
Alabama's games with them have always been extremely physical going back to the 1960's (and I remember a MS QB named Stacy, back in the 1950s who was really really good...).

From things I have read, their OL is a big concern. That is where the ability of an O begins.

As previously stated he had an all time SEC great season last year and we return 4 of our top 5 or 6 leaders in receiving yards. This season 100% comes down to oline play. State always has a 1000 yard rusher so not worried about RB. For MSU the difference between 6-6 and 10-2 will be how the Oline plays. I see State going 8-4 or 9-3.

I'm glad we're carrying around a shite preseason ranking right now. Mullen's offense is going to be monster this year.

He's a good QB, but MSU fans are vastly overrating their backups from last year.

Honesty is a beautiful thing!

Dak should scare opponents, but the fact that their offense should be relatively one dimensional goes against him.
Lol wut? One dimensional?

We will average 500 ypg or close to it again this year.

Our receiver and RB groups will be better than last year.
The line is questionable, but that doesn't neccesarily mean bad.. Same could be said about the LSU defense and QB.. How scary is that?

This thread is about Dak and offense right? What back ups are we talking about? Wrs... lol? Just not sure where that came from......

but it can't be said about lsu's D. number 1 D in the SEC last year and return 8 starters.

I asked the same thing. Not sure which dimension he/she think we lack.

Too bad one of those isn't Chavis

I've heard the grind all summer that the backup offensive lineman played plenty last year and are gonna be great.
Posted on 8/20/15 at 11:07 am to Hardy_Har
We will be fine with out Chavis. Now we are finally recruiting LBers

Do you think Mills will make the MSU game? I hear mixed reports. You haver good backups at S but his experience would be clutch against a dual threat..
