They're definitely not elite rn. However, they reside right in the middle of a very fertile recruiting hotbed, so there shouldn't be much holding them back from becoming extremely competitive again. They've got trophies and won a championship less than a decade ago

"Elite", in my opinion, are the blue blood types that have won numerous national titles, including at least 2 since integration, plus Michigan.

Alabama
Notre Dame
USC
OU
Ohio State
Texas
Michigan (won more games than any other team)
Nebraska (falling off sharply)

Ehh I think the obsession from the LSU side regarding Alabama has been unhealthy since 2008. Considering Alabama has dominated LSU for most of both schools histories there are generations of LSU fans obsessed with Bama. Your recent success over the last few years is the only reason Alabama even discusses LSU. What you see here is salt in wound.

It's simple. In public, LSU fans hold their team to a much lower standard than they do virtually every other team in CFB. LSU can literally do no wrong but boy, everyone else sure as frick can.

In private, however, they hold their team to such a high standard that it's virtually impossible for the team to ever succeed in their eyes.

This is the paradox of tRantard.

There is 1 elite team in the SEC right now and they don't wear purple. The rest of us are playing for a distant second place.

The winner of the west the last 10 years has been LSU, Alabama, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Alabama, Alabama, Alabama.

Meh....it's all about what have you done lately. 2011 was your high water mark and its been all downhill from there. Right now LSU is not elite. A great job with good potential but not elite...kind of like Georgia.

LSU has been elite with Dietzel, Arnsparger, Saban, and Miles. Define multiple times and multiple coaches. I think remaining elite through two coaching regimes is pretty impressive and definitely rare. If you define elite by being Alabama's equal then you're limiting yourself to like 3 programs

So LSU? And you know Texas has one national title the past 45 years right?

You missed the "blue blood type" qualifier. LSU has never been considered that.

edit: Oh, and "numerous" is relative, but I'm pretty sure LSU has won only 3 total since AP started ranking teams.

You provided the definition...multiple titles post integration. LSU has that. They also have one claimed and another unclaimed but NCAA recognized title prior to integration. But please tell me more about your definition of "blue blood" types and all the national success Texas football has had since you've been alive I also love how you have to include Michigan knowing good and well they haven't won shite in 20 years and one title post integration

Yea I guess it's to bad we don't play eastern Michigan, Indiana, and Purdue and Northwestern every year...

LSU isn't blue blood type, and haven't won numerous tiles.

This isn't complex.

The only two elite teams of recent years have been OSU and Alabama. They've kind of separated themselves from the field

So I guess Alabama doesn't qualify? They had 8 straight 3+ loss seasons a decade ago

1908, 1959, 2003, 2007. That isn't multiple titles?

I'd say we're doing well for being in a down period

Statistically, Winsipedia/CFB data warehouse have LSU as #10 and #9 all time. That's good enough for me.

Elite brand.

Fairly good on-field product, currently.

Just a good offensive staff and a good qb away from being one of the best teams in the country, IMO.

1908?

AP lists LSU with 2 titles, 1958 and 2007. LINK

If you want to believe LSU is a blue blood type program, though, then knock yourself out.
