No. we haven't been the same since 1/9/12.

We're a top 25 team since with top 5 talent. But with the right coach we're back overnight. I don't think opposing fan bases understand how undiciplined and poorly coached we've been for the last 5 years. They haven't had to watch all the games and plays our fan base has watched. It was terrible.

We have more players in the NFL then any other school.....yet we continually lose 3-5 games a year. A blind man can see the light on this.

LSU fans have unrealistic expectations. They think their new coach is going to come in next year and compete for the National Championship. Those unrealistic expectations are the #1 problem with LSU football.

All play in shitty conferences that half the SECw teams could of won every year.

You missed the "blue blood type" qualifier. LSU has never been considered that.

If that's your standard, then no one will ever be considered elite again that not among those teams. Also need to remove several of those "blue bloods" as teams like Norte Dame haven't done shite in years. They are always ranked way higher than they should be.

well LSU has competed for the national championship 3 times in the last 12 seasons while also going to the SEC championship in 2005, and we're last minute touchdown against Alabama from going again in 2012. Being the SEC champion makes you a NC contender. The past few years have been tough by LSU standards becausethe game passed up Les Miles. LSU has recruited better than any SEC team other than Alabama over the last 3 years though so it's not far fetched to believe LSU will be very good with the right coach. Anyone who believes otherwise is just being a miserable troll.

Did you think that through when you typed it? The standard is excellence. That is a national championship. Don't act like Alabama is the only team to have figured that out. Alabama and LSU are not that far apart in regards to talent on the field (with the exception of OL and QB - light years apart). Overall the difference is minute. The biggest difference is coaching. Alabama has (arguably) the GOAT. Period.

Arrogance personified. Seriously.

Talent is there. Not crazy to think that a competent coach makes a contender. It's actually rational

Having Saban for a few short years have warped their perspective on their historical and current significance.

Les Miles really backed into the 2nd one, only driving the point home.

Yes, they are elite, in that they get elite talent. But they've been wasting it. Getting the right coach will be key.

At beginning of season, LSU had 1 more player. Now, Alabama has 1 more.

Things change during the season.

Good post Red Drum. I agree 100%. Good luck with your cocking search, LSU deserves a top notch coach.

We didn't expect Saban to win it in his first year though just because Shula recruited really well. And Saban didn't win one till his third year, even though he had already won a title at another SEC school.

I'm just saying it's unrealistic to expect your new coach to come in and win it all next year.

I'm not saying that shouldn't be the goal but it should not be the expectation next yesr.

Touche. But this isn't really about Alabama being elite. Alabama was in 2006. Just in the wilderness.

The last 10 years have just amped it up.

You lost to KENTUCKY and Arkansas at home--and lucked into the championship. Was anyone at the time more deserving? Maybe not. We "backed in" as a one loss against the then #1 team in the country. Different story, different argument.

Well we thought they would be. Particularly after they landed Ben Simmons. But he not only turned out to be a one and done but a particularly lazy one and done.

LSU deserved better them him in all honesty. They are still a good team coming into this season but I think the Simmons Experiment delayed them. The talent is there to be a very good basketball team but but they need to move away from one and done fixes to building a long term program.

Inconsistent, underachieving. Not that hard. Awful question is awful.
