Yeah, sanctions is what killed the U after 1992.
The Bama loss was interesting though. The U wasn't dominant in 1991, winning 4 games by 1-6 points.
Even then, they had zero respect for Bama which was stupid. Pat Dye tried to warn them and said Bama was better and the best team in the country leading up to the game but the U didn't GAF. Big mistake.

Maybe ESPN should introduce a little reality into its portrayal of the program. They act like they intimidated every team they faced. Maybe they did do that with the Oklahomas of the world.

Thought the 30 30 was pretty good. I hadn't watched any of them until a week ago when I watched the Chuck Mullins story. Damn, that was great but hard to watch without getting emotional. That was when I was finishing HS and starting at Bama in 89.
Since watching that I have seen one of the U 30s and it was pretty cool.
Are there any that are "must see"?

They really didn't.....they talked shite all the way leading up to the game....including at the team banquets and a street brawl between the players in the French Quarter before the game. Running their mouths constantly about how Bama had no business being on the same field with them, predicting a blowout, blah, blah, blah....they thought it was the same Bill Curry squad they faced a few years prior.

Check out the one on "The Boz"...Brian Bosworth the infamous OU linebacker.
Jesus eighties football sucked: Miami, Switzer and the Boz, Lou Holtz's Notre Dame, Nebraska, and Pat Dye's Auburn. Holy frick.....

All I can say is my girl at the time was a bama fan and I got some good sex that night! Was the best of my life at the time, I was 18.

i don't remember their win against Alabama in the 1990 Sugar Bowl being talked about all that much either though.
that game was only good during the 1st half.
much like Alabama's game with Auburn that year.
the 2nd half.... forget about it.

I was just old enough to remember that game and it really speaks to an insane level of ignorance that the U just dismissed Bama before the game.
All year you could tell that Bama D was one of the GOAT. They were flat out impossible to run on and had the most ferocious pass rush off the edge college football had seen in years. Then great lockdown corners in langum and teage and a head Hunter at safety in Sam shade.
Dye said on national tv right after the IB that Bama was the best team in the country right there at midfield. Then repeated it leading up to the sugar bowl.
Miami was out of their fricking minds thinking they were in for anything less than a brutal all our battle just to score a few tds against that team.

Wrong year.
Either way, that was one of the few games where our thugs were the better thugs on the field. Lamar, Torretta, and others at shite like no one's business after that long layoff.

All that is true, but their arrogance was basically their identity as a program. They sort of had to think that way or they'd lose their edge imo.
It burned them a few times but was also a factor in them building their program.

Lot of anger and butt hurt toward Bama from the usual crowd of Tigers.

Not that it would fit the OP's narrative, but I'm certain the first 30 for 30 discusses the Sugar Bowl against Alabama.
