How does this only apply to LSU and should only be posted on tiger rant? He's comparing aranda to the rest of the SECs coaches. Its on the right board.

He's not comparing him to anyone. He's proclaiming him the 2nd best coach. So, no, this is not on the right board.

Ok? I still don't get how his post is irrelevant to fans of other sec schools, but whatever. It's not a big deal is my point. No worries.

So, why didn't LSU hire him to be the HC instead of Ed?

they made previous HC experience as a requirement.

As if Vince Lombardi and Bill Walsh were never assistants.

Why in the hell do some of my fellow lsu fans start crap like this. If he's good let the game speak for that.

I don't see the big deal. Nothing wrong with this discussion. The OP is wrong imo but what's wrong with talking about it? I have seen much worse topics from Germantowntiger.

You mean "kept Auburn out of the end zone on their home field?"

Look, not taking anything away from you guys. You won the game. Unfortunately for us, you have the best FG kicker in the country. You definitely needed him that game.

Yea, this is not that crazy a topic. Kind of silly to lump him in with head coaches, but I would agree he is the #1 coordinator in the conference.

Mullen is a good coach, would you take him over DA if you had to build a team from scratch?
Dave Aranda has never run a program, ever. He's an excellent DC. We don't know anything about his administrative ability. I assume it will be good, but we just don't know. We also don't know what his offensive philosophy is, he might prefer Saban/Miles ball... run the ball to kill the clock, rely on defense to keep the other team down, win 10-3 games.

Dan Mullen had Miss State at #1 in the middle of the season. He has them going to bowls.
Miss St has no business being at that level.

Starting from scratch, I would take Mullen in a heartbeat right now. He has a proven track record and a formula for success that raised a mediocre also-ran to bowl levels.

In terms of individual value to the program, I'd say he is up there but behind Saban and Mullen.

I think Aranda has been better probably than Pruitt, but Pruitt is a fantastic coordinator and has done it on the biggest stages at FSU, Georgia and Alabama, 2 of which he was totally on his own and took talented but average defenses and made them very very good.

It's not that crazy to say he might be the best (I'd disagree, though). Certainly not as crazy as taking Aranda>Mullen to start a program.

Sean White threw for over 235 yards and a 70% completion rate against that talent rich Defense lead by Aranda. AU didn't score a TD, but Aranda made him look All-SEC.

To be fair, that game was still pretty early in his first season installing a completely new defense. Plus, Les ran the typical defense killing offense that game, and the rumors of his getting canned were already swirling.

Auburn averaged 5.17 YPP, didn't score a TD and scored 18 pts vs an LSU defense on the road. In a September game against a coordinator with a new scheme in his first road game.

If that is your worst game of the season then I'd be ok with that.

Pruitt is a good DC but he's not as good as DA. What DA did at Wisc with much less is far more commendable than what Pruitt did at the three programs you listed, all of which were overflowing with talent. Plus DAs year 1 performance at LSU should turn heads.

I can see your case for Mullen. All things considered, he's done a pretty good job, esp considering we're talking about Miss St.

That said, I'll take DA and the unknown over the other 12 clowns running the SEC, Orgeron included, if I'm starting a program.
