texashorn picks up phone, calls office:
"Hello, Percy? It's texashorn.
Cancel all my meetings.
There's a thread about the Ags on an SEC message board.
And I think something said by one of 'em may be wrong!"

Campuses are honestly getting way too big

only because I live near to and work in oxford ole miss campus has always been jammed into a small area - and the city itself is rapidly becoming a nightmare infastructure wise.

campuses too big? not really. population becoming too large? I could see that

You don't know what "flagship" means.

Texas A&M is the only AAU member in the SEC West and has by far the largest endowment.

The med school serves the entire state of MS.

I mean....if you're trying to be technical about it.....every school in the state serves the entire state.

There isn't any law or anything preventing Mississippi residents from going to an out of state med school.

That's like saying msu can't count Ole miss grads that transfer into ag-based grad programs.

number doesn't include the Med school, which is filled with State grads

Growth is still there. Y'all have grown about 1500 students in Starkville over the past 5 years while we've grown 4K in Oxford. When I was at OM, the on campus gap favored state by 4k

You must have insanely large campuses.

Indeed it is, 61,000 is also the reason our expansion of Kyle field to 105,000 made sense

They only have a 60% acceptance rate, so probably still behind aggy in numbers.

AU's undergrad will stay where it is at, but in the next few years the professional and grad programs are going up. Based on the campus "expansion" you'd never know that the undergrad numbers have really stayed the same. The improvements at the engineering college are unbelievable.

Everyone in this country refers to UT as the flagship in Texas except for Aggies. Sorry, it's just the way it is. Don't be upset

Am I crazy...or did Ole Miss used to be significantly smaller than MSU? I thought back in the 80's that Ole Miss' enrollment was only slightly more than Vanderbilt.

For a couple decades....the administration tried to run Ole miss basically like an Ivy League school. They didn't want a big school.

Also ran the athletic department like their own country club.

Outside of Internet fan message boards, not once has anyone in my entire life ever said "flagship university" in reference to texas university or Texas A&M. It's never been said on ESPN, fox sports or any other sports network either.

But it remains an indisputable fact that BOTH are established as flagship universtities

What make this so incredibly funny is that's it's 100% true

Congrats on being the flagship institution of college station, I guess.
