Alabama is nearly 60% OOS, that OOS tuition is a lucrative business.

Except for the fact that Alabama offers out of state tuition scholarships. I'm not sure of the percentage but I know several of my friends that had friends that went there because they didn't get into FL and Bama waived the out of state tuition for them.

This is weird coming from a guy in his 60s. Especially since a woman hasn't touched your little feller in probably 30 years or more.

If we're talking public school academics, it's UF then Aggie at the top, with jawja following.

Aggie is no slouch, and has caught up to UT and surpassed it in some areas. Kinda like VT and UVA. You don't go to UVA to learn engineering. Nothing like FSU and UF though. Only thing they got us beat in is their literal clown school (look it up!).

This ain't tallest midget, either. UF consistently ties UT in rankings and keeps trending up.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

aggie is a tremendous slouch

the only reason aggie research has a large # on it is because in 2013 they started including all of their medical branches research numbers around the state into their college station numbers, a simple accounting trick used simply to inflate research numbers

hell, UT's medical branch research numbers for MD Anderson in Houston alone almost has the same research numbers as all of college station, not to mention all of the other medical branches. If UT-Austin used this method, they would be by far the #1 research school in the country

so aggie to do this and inflate their numbers for college station

70% plus acceptance rate for aTm should be embarrassing, and their rankings have fallen every year in conjunction with their bloated acceptance rate and overall total student population

You're like a broken record. A&M is in the top 20 in research. Get over it.
quote:

Texas A&M currently ranks 17th among the nation’s research institutions, and 10th among all public research universities, according to the latest Higher Education Research and Development Survey released by the National Science Foundation, based on expenditures in research and development from fiscal year 2014. The foundation expects to release its next survey based on data from fiscal year 2015 in November 2016.

For comparison - UF is 26th, Vandy is 28th, tu is 34th, UGA is 62nd, LSU is 79th, Ole Miss is 141st, Alabama is 188th.

aTm is a very good school, but even you have to be alarmed a little about the direction the school is headed

They do offer OOS tuition scholarships for OOS students, I've known several kids with high GPA/ACT/SAT scores that received such scholarships.

But kids coming in from the west coast or east coast like Cali/NY/Conn/Mass, etc. are willing to pay full OOS tuition at UA because it is less than half the in-state costs if they attended school in their own state.

IIRC, UF has deliberately taken measures to cap enrollment. The student population was getting too big.

UF has a very large campus, but for some reason most of the academic buildings are crammed into a small section in the northeast corner of campus.

Our nursing, dental, and pharma schools do not inflate research numbers...

Our center for biological research which is part of our health services dept and primarily located IN COLLEGE STATION does

You tsips are some smart fellas

It includes College Station, Galveston, and Qatar. I don't know the rules with Qatar, but Galveston gets the ring, can get a sports pass, and get everything anyone at College Station can.

No, it doesn't include corpus or any other system universities

Only 2 "branches" that are clearly outlined as extensions of the main campus are included, Galveston and Qatar, together they combine for a TOTAL of 2,805 students

Ole Miss seemed to fight growth for such a long time. That's a pretty nice growth rate over the last 5 years.

Hey, we didn't operationally define the term flagship for Texas.
Google it.
Not sure why it annoys you; it is what it is.
Don't let it vex you so much.

Is the tRANTs annual "which school is better" thread? It helps me remember how close to the Ivy League we are as a conference.

And I was pointing out that a seperate entity 150 miles away from campus shouldn't count.

It depends on what # they want to inflate. Assume that if they include those other entities, like medical schools, in their enrollment numbers, they also include the endowments of those schools in their overall endowment, etc.

UA - Fayetteville campus = 26,754, endowment $948 million 2015 EOFY.

UArk System (UAMS, UAFS, UALR, UA LR Law, etc) = 60,000+ students, more $.
