Talked about how it can stop rational decision making when one party has too much power. Saban loses to auburn and gets a 30% pay raise, boosters paying off his house etc. saban owns the state of AL and this can be unhealthy (also gave Paterno as an example)

Agree?

Wins championships, don't care.

If he ran for governor, he'd win and the state's unemployment rate would be cut in half within a week.

As if any other major college in any other State (California and Colorado excluded) wouldn't do the same. Hook...denied.

Yea I agree hopefully Saban isn't let child rape go on in the office or else I'll have to defend it due to my irrationality.

This will get flamed and bring out the butthurt, but Bama is the only fanbase that refers to the head coach of their University as "Coach_____" . For example, "I think Coach Saban will have the team ready today". That is just so damn creepy to me You never played for him you freaking weirdos

Not really - the resurgence of the football program has brought in a ton of money to the University, allowing a lot of non-athletic programs as well as smaller athletic programs to get a boost. Saban has probably been the single best investment the University has put forth in a long time.

Of course. This is true for Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Florida State, South Carolina, Penn State AGAIN, and about 20 other places where the coach has been successful and the fans/alumni care more about football than any other aspect of the university.

As for giving a raise to Nick Saban, I would love to hear someone tell me of another coach who has brought in more money to a school after you subtract his paycheck. From a business perspective, Saban was by far the best hire in the last 10 years.

Nick Saban could commute death sentences in Alabama with one phone call. Dude definitely more powerful than the Governor or anyone else in the state.
