Dude.. I have no idea if there is any truth to the story but had roles been reversed I would be crapping my pants as an LSU alum. If the NCAA/FBI find anything, AU could be crippled at best (with all wins this year vacated) and get a death sentence at worst.

Not sure I would be talking alot of shite right now.

Even Finebaum said Friday, Are there tapes, well there is doubt about it now. They clearly exist. Whats on them we dont know. Then the caller said does the phrase "make me smile" mean anything to you? or something like that.

The tapes, which are often ignored here, have ben ackowledged by everyone. Why do you think Cecil and Kenny Rodgers are talking? FBI & Tapes means big trouble.

Big Bill will Id them Monday and I would assume they will be leaked before next Friday

Was it reported somewhere that there are tapes? Who is saying there are tapes? This is the one thing that has been unclear to me from the beginning.

Nov 13th, Despite all of the above evidence, Auburn decides to play Cam Newton against Georgia.

Why'd they do this? I wonder what input the AD had over this decision?

My theory is that this was a calculated risk based on how much information the Auburn people thought the NCAA had at that point in time.

"If they have proof and we play him, we're fricked. If they don't have proof and we don't play him, we've fricked ourselves."

I think that, with Cam being the key to their season, they were stuck sort of between a rock and a hard place.

everyone keeps saying that cecil admits to pimping his son around. I read the article and it just says "sources", in a small newspaper.

Is this the admission everyone is talking about?

So if Bill Bell actually has recordings of this which he has kept for almost one year, without contacting either the SEC or the NCAA office, does anyone think there isn't something stinking besides roofing tar?

If Bell has the tapes, why didn't he himself contact the SEC and/or NCAA?

Out of all of the alumni for MSU, why was Bell the go-to guy for cash?

Did you have the part where Rogers has told two TOTALLY different stories in interviews with the same radio station within a weeks time?

No, I missed that..

What was the conflict in "stories" ?

So i guess we can say at this point that Rodgers acted as an agent for Cecil Newton and not for Cam?

More information needed on the truck driving company. This is the first I've heard of it.

Yes this is the "admission" everyone is talking about.

Another (can you bleive it???) unnamed source told an Atlanta tv reporter that Cecil admitted to asking for money but that neither Cam nor Mrs Newton knew about it. Every other outlet to report the same story has used WSB TV as the source of said story.

Right now anything and everything is pretty much hearsay.

No one in the press has actually reported nor are there any statements from the FBI, NCAA, SEC, MSU, or any of the witnesses who have spoken publicly, stating that the tapes exist. The closest thing to a report is the posting on the TCU board that conversations were taped.

Tbe tapes may indeed exist, but so far no "credible" source has confirmed their existence.

I thought Richard Nixon taught us to never make tapes when you're talking about shady shite. It's hard to believe someone would be so stupid to make them.

Tthis all came to light ten games in. If he is ruled ineligible they give up all of those wins anyway why not play him and hope for the best.

Two of the worst NCAA violations are: Lack of Institutional Control and Failure to Monitor, pretty much like rape and murder and Auburn decided to commit those Saturday when he played. It was a tough choice, but they made it.

Which is why healthy skepticism is in order at this point. If Bell, Rogers, or Bond actually had tapes, why wouldn't they have said so in their public comments detailing the conversations that they have spoken about? Why hasn't any press report confirmed them?

Again, they may exist, but I remain skeptical that they do at this point since we have so many other details confirmed by the press, but not this detail.
