Give LSU fans credit on this. They've been consistent.

Prior to A&M's attempt at Haley, they trashed him.

Now that Texas is retaining him, not only are they still trashing him, but they are saying that A&M dodged a bullet.

No moving the goalposts here.

Seeing as how you lack consistency we can't take you seriously.

this place has made you so bitter. We've been saying for a long fricking time now that Brick was dog shite. We laughed at yall for offering and now it's even funnier that you offered, and dog shite Brick turned you down.

how that's inconsistent is beyond me...

But he didn't turn us down in a vacuum. Texas offered him more money and he decided to not leave. That isn't the same as just flat being turned down. They fought to keep him.

I guess that is why I am bitter. Everyone spins everything to try and throw shade on other SEC programs. Every now and then its funny, but it gets old sometimes.

Props to the LSU fans in this thread that said we dodged a bullet and who didn't try to get a laugh on top of that.

mixed the metaphor and probably a little over the top

So we say you dodge the bullet, but in my metaphor I am saying trying to hire brick haley was like putting a loaded gun in your mouth and pulling the trigger. Him saying no was like it misfiring. In the end you were saved, but it was scary you offered him in the first place or in the metaphor "put the gun in your mouth and pulled the trigger".

Not really.

Any Aggie who is honest with themselves should have known that Texas was going to offer him more money to stay just to avoid the optics of losing a coach to us in a lateral move. It was like calling McFly chicken, they were going to do a stupid thing for stupid reasons thanks to us.

In one fell swoop we:

-Placated Chavis (who for some reason can't pick good assistant coaches despite being a good coach)
-Made Texas pay more for a shitty coach
-Created a large budget for how much we are willing to pay a coach at this position, which means that we can hopefully hire someone everyone won't laugh at

I don't see the downside really. The bullet we dodged is the slight chance Texas's ego would have allowed him to walk, which was a VERY slight chance.

I was referring to our coaching staffs actions not making sense

I think you're conveniently forgetting about all the TAMU fans who attempted to justify the offer.

I am not. But Sarge wasn't one of them as he was quoted to be.

And it wasn't a stretch to justify the offer either. If he took the job with us (which again was a small chance) we get the optics of stealing a coach from Texas (which we would rub in for years) for the price of a single year's salary (no way Brick was the missing piece to allow Sumlin to keep his job).

Really it was always win-win to us in some way. That is why I personally didn't freak out about the Brick thing. His hiring would have signed Sumlin's and Charlie's pink slip in a single move.

I think the results last year prove that isn't the case. We got way better on defense. He is a good coach.

I think the simple answer is yall were right all along- he sucks at recruiting, both boys and men.

And that might be a dealbreaker at A&M, we will see.

It was a dealbreaker at LSU. The DL and LB recruiting is still hurting LSU today. Did you see what Henry did to LSU? Yea, that's on Chavis just as much as Steele.

It was a self-depreciating gay joke cas4t.

I appreciate your candor though, and your (accurate) analysis of my current Rant perspective.

Please provide a reference that shows Texas not only met, but exceeded A&M's offer.

The only report I saw today showed that Texas came close to A&M's offer.
