I had a teammate of Bo's tell me that on Friday practice before a game they were goofing off on the field an Bo got on one knee on the goal line and threw the football into the other end zone. The teammate that told me that was Gerald Williams 1986 all-sec defensive lineman.

I really can't argue with the choice.

I would have loved to see what Bo could have accomplished given today's emphasis on training, stretching, and working out to improve performance.

Had a Bama fan tell me that Bo transcended the rivalry. He said that when Bo was on the field in football (but more so in baseball) according to him...that as much as this fan was a hard core Bama fan, he knew Bo was a once in a lifetime player. He said it was as if God said, "here is genetics and my gift combined in a human".

I’d take Herschel on the football field and in a fight, so Herschel is the obvious answer

You and people like you are the reason this msg board has become a waste of everyone's time. Every single one of my friends and family that are Bama fans still loves Bo. Yet here you are making fun of someone who has done nothing but help raise money for people in your state.
Why? So that you can get someone like me to respond to you. Do you feel like you've accomplished something now?

How many people have played in the All Star game in two sports? Bo knows.

The greatest athlete of all-time does not pull himself from games after he gets hit hard a couple of times....Bo did pull himself.

Bo is still one of the greatest, hands down. If his career had not been cut short, he'd be the MJ or the Ali of football.

Agreed he deserves to be called the greatest athlete of all time. I cannot think of many who could even give him a run.

I always wondered how big a rivalry it would have been if Derrick Thomas and Bo Jackson had played college at the same time - instead, by the time DT hit the pros, Bo was reducing his time there and left in 1990 (DT's rookie season was 1989). Considering the Raiders/Chiefs rivalry of the time, it would have been huge.

Since water still covers over 2/3 of this planet and Bo Jackson sucks at water related sports... I have doubts about him being the greatest athlete on the planet

memory starts to fade over time and his career was so short but the longest home run ever hit in royals stadium was hit by Bo and it was his first home run, just think of how many players have hit there and a kid who is primarily a football player walks up and hits a ball further than anyone else ever has ,then goes to his other job and has the longest rush from scrimmage in the NFL 3 of his 4 years in the league.

Wow, we have a true cult when you get down voted for a factual statement. You guys are truly delusional. He wouldn't even be top 10 in Alabama.

Jesse Owens born in Alabama as was :
Hank Arron
Joe Louis
Willie Mays
Willie McCovey
Charles Barkley
Frank Thomas was from Georgia but came from Auburn
Carl Lewis is from Birmingham
Evander Holyfield from Atmore
Don Sutton, Ozzie Newsome, Ozzie Smith.

Its is a hard luck story, but the injury makes ESPN full of bologna.

You have to do more than hit a long homerun.

I think the difference being that given time, Bo could have had all the "accomplishments" that the others had while the others as great as were could not ever have physically done what Bo could do. The most physically gifted baseball player I have ever witnessed.

Don't have time to read all the responses so this may have already been stated but....

Bo couldn't tote Caitlin Jenner's maxi pad.
