1. Mike Price was never the head football coach at the University of Alabama. Contract not signed, all he did was preside over a spring practice and go to Florida. I have the same record as head coach for Alabama as he does. That’s my story and I’m sticking with it.

2. Hiring Mike Shula. Don’t get me wrong, I got some respect for him as a coach and qb coach, but he was in so far over his head and it had everything to do with experience. How do you let the players become involved with, of all things, a text book scandal?? He got handed a shite sandwich, but you have to respect having the balls to step up.

3. Since it was brought up, pushing Gene out was just plain stupid. Damn good man. 1992 is maybe my favorite season of Alabama football ever. But the ensuing decade is what brought us here.

To be fair it's not like football was the only team doing it. I still don't get having to vacate wins over it. There was no competitive advantage gained by it. The NCAA even said all the books had either been returned or were paid for by the students, per the policy.

IIRC, there was supposed to be something in the software the SUPe store used that would have flagged that athletes were getting books for classes they were not enrolled in. I also believe the only reason it came to light is someone's GF worked at the SUPe store and when he broke up with her she blew the whistle on the whole thing.

For football it might have been allowing Kiffin to stay on staff after taking the FAU job. Maybe Saban should have just told him to go ahead and move on and have Sark coach both the Peach Bowl and CFPNCG that year.

I think he was leaving regardless. Around that time was when I worked for the Ole Miss AD(flex’d) and walked by him in the locker room area of Tad Smith. He had lost obvious weight and was so pale he looked damned near transparent. Honestly thought he had a serious illness.

It was obvious the stress was getting to him.

1. Hiring Houston Nutt at OM

2. A coach letting a player sleep on his sofa at Ole Miss - guaranteed to have the NCAA looking.

Whether Price coached a game or not - he was still hired to be the coach.

The dumbest thing since 2000 has to be Mike Price or Rich Rod. Thank God for 2 crazy women with crazy hair (Rita and Destiny).

Shula took a total shite show and made it respectable. If he would have been willing to make changes on his coaching staff he would of not been fired IMHO but when you keep Bucket step Bob, and Dave Rader and refuse to answer the phone from Mal Moore after the season you have to know that you are going to get fired.

I have to go back further to 1990...hiring Curly Hallman from Southern Miss who was lucky enough to recruit a QB that ran the option in high school named Bret Farve that led to ...he never had a winning season and gave LSU their first 3 consecutive losing seasons in 100+ years of history at the time...

Not my schools but

Southern Miss running off or forcing him to retire, or whatever that was they did to Jeff Bower was a Bonehead move.

As was Fresno State with Pat Hill.

Neither of those programs have done crap since they let those guys go.

Of Course we could also list Ole Miss with Cutcliffe and Coach O. Both of which I thought did a very respectable job there.

Skip no matching or exceeding Wayne Hyzenga or Skip not telling Les to walk to Michigan in 2007 and giving Saban whatever he wanted to comeback.
