Did I miss something? I could of sworn Mizzou was looking pretty good a couple polls ago. Did they complete shite themselves over the last month or something?
Combination of that and we just hit a more difficult portion of our schedule. Got swept by Vandy and LSU, which wasn't really a big surprise although I obviously would have loved to have won one game. Won the OM series in between those 2. Think we've won every other series we've had, in fact, other than A&M.
Where they have absolutely shite the bed is in the midweek games.
Lost to SEMO.
Lost to Missouri State(who's top 15 I believe).
Lost to Missouri State.
Lost to Arkansas Little Rock.
Lost to Illinois.
Split with Arkansas Pine Bluff.
That was our last OOC win. Nearly two months ago. And it was a split.

illinois and missouri state are extremely difficult midweek games so that's not exactly too surprising

Not surprising, but they had the Illinois game won and should have split with Missouri State. Win the others and you're sitting at somewhere in the mid 30's in wins and about where expected in conference. The only other thing that would have been nice would have been to win 1 against Vandy and/or LSU but getting swept was no surprise. They're both just flat out better teams.

Using just RPI at the moment these would be the nation seeds
Dallas Baptist 1 0.627
UCLA 2 0.608
Florida State 3 0.605
Miami, Florida 4 0.605
Louisiana State 5 0.604
Texas Christian 6 0.604
Florida 7 0.602
Texas A&M 8 0.600
Louisville 9 0.592
Missouri State 10 0.590
Illinois 11 0.588
However, thats not the way the seeding is going to shape out.
Realistically its going to be like this
Already national seed locks due to conference performance
1)LSU
2)UCLA
3)Louisville
4)Illinois
5)TCU
#1 RPI (Lock for a national seed just not sure of the number)
6)Dallas Baptist
That's 6 spots already taken
Realistic Teams fighting for the last 2 spots
Texas A&M
Florida
Florida State
Miami
*Notes
Texas A&M has the best Record but the lowest RPI
Miami has the highest RPI but they are lowest in the polls. The also have the hardest remaining schedule according to RPI.
Florida State has the head to head series win over Florida and Miami but shite themselves against inferior opponents.
Florida is middle of the road in every measurement between the teams.
Texas A&M and Florida really don't look vastly superior to Miami or FSU
So the final seeds will be something like this
1)LSU
2)UCLA
3)Louisville
4)Illinois
5)TCU
6)Dallas Baptist
7)Florida/Texas A&M
8)Miami/FSU
A 3rd SEC team realistically needs Dallas Baptist to unravel in the next couple weeks to prove the computers are having a derp moment.
or
A&M and Florida advance deep as in the SEC tournament while Miami and FSU flop

If things play out right A&M has the potential to have a monster looking resume on paper. If Auburn(29) can win enough this week to get back into the top 25, it'll make A&M 7-2 vs top 25, then win 2/3 vs OM and some luck from USCe(58), UK(56), and/or Mizzou(52) 17-6 vs the top 50. I don't think UF, UM, or FSU's records vs the top tier is that good.

I don't think Dallas Baptist gets a national seed...their resume just doesn't scream national seed. They played a lot of road games and not many games against RPI 200+ teams which really has boosted their RPI A TON.
They only have 8 wins vs. RPI Top 50 teams but it only turns out to be 2 series wins against RPI Top 50 teams which isn't very impressive. On top of that, they wont even win the MVC...which while an improved conference, doesn't say much in terms of getting a national seed.

It doesn't help that TCU, A&M, and LSU are probably close enough avoid a flight if they were to be matched up in the supers.
If DBU was in Nebraska or Indiana and not Texas then I think they'd be a lock. They still might get it as the whole #1 RPI thing. Like I said earlier. Very curious situation they're in.

Mainieri will tell the boys after the UNO game that they are playing for a ring (SEC champs). I think this will make a difference to this team. I expect them to play hard at USCe this weekend (at least I hope so). If they take that series on the road, they will, in all likelihood, be the #1 seed
Posted on 5/11/15 at 3:26 pm to Farmer1906
My personal opinion is that they are on the outside looking in on a national seed.

If they win their conference tournament and beat OK state, they will be a seed. You can't just ignore #1 RPI.
Missouri St winning the conference tournament will make the decision a lot easier.

Whenever I get about LSU football I get about LSU baseball.
Love me some Tiger baseball.

It is definitely a curious case. I have followed them fairly closely this year and have been rooting for them. They aren't going to win their conference (non power) and their biggest weekend series win is Bradley, but they have played a who's who midweek including @A&M, @TCU, v TCU, @OU, v OU, @OSU, v OSU. No #1 RPI has even not been a national seed.
One thing I have to say is this. Whoever set the Dallas Baptist schedule this season should get a hefty raise for masterful use of the system.

Did we drop in the RPI after sweeping state?
No but Missouri rose by 4 places after dropping three to us.

Why should Dallas Baptist be a lock for a national seed when they aren't even going to win its conference?
National seeds in no particular order:
LSU
Louisville
UCLA
TCU
Illinois
Those are locks right now.
The last 3 national seeds will be 3 of these teams:
Dallas Baptist
Florida
A&M
Vandy
Florida St
Miami
Of these, I think Florida, Miami, and whomever finishes better in SECT Vandy/A&M will get the 8th seed.

If you say that Dallas Baptist is a national seed, tell me how you keep Missouri State from being a national seed.

I really would rather that LSU go into the CWS Tournament as a 2,3,or 4 seed.
The Last number one National Seed to win it all was Miami in 1999.

Why are we considering TCU a lock?
The Big XII is 5th in conference RPI with MV just barely behind it. TCU has 12 games (not wins) vs the top 50. That is 2 fewer than DBU. Their SOS is 72 and they have series loss to sub .500 KSU.

Well for one they are 39-9. More importantly, they have a series win @ Arizona State, a win @ UCLA, and a neutral site win against Vandy. Last 10 games they are 9-1.
Despite SOS and top 50 rpi wins, winning the big 12 and those victories are enough IMO to solidify them as a national seed.

So because they have 4 nice wins in the season, have 9 recent wins vs the #94, #100, #115, and #218 teams, and they're going to win a conference that will likely only get 1 other team in the tournament, possibly 2. I'm not buying it. They're in the mix for sure, but should not be a lock.
