That's just 2 All-Americans and 4 guys projected as top 100 MLB draft picks.
We're going to be mediocre on the hill, Al.

Can someone just tell me how successful highly rated freshmen pitchers usually are in college baseball, specifically the SEC?
Serrano is 91-93 topping out at 95 with a ++curveball, a +changeup and average command.
Any comparisons recently?
Alot of history of guys coming in and seeing immediate success. Particularly among guys that have basically been groomed for it their whole life like Serrano has.
I fully expect him to be your Friday night guy and generally give you a chance to beat anybody in that slot. It's crazy he got drafted as early as he did with the signability concerns than surrounded him.
ETA: It's usually the postseason when it seems to catch up with the young guys for the most part...which, I'd assume, would already guarantee that Tennessee's season was considered a success

Yeah, I may go over there and watch him some. Always interesting to watch big time arms. I remember watching Alex Wood dominate against us a few years ago for UGA and now he's doing the same thing for the Braves.
Tennessee has not had one quality arm since Hochevar that I can remember. Very difficult to watch baseball when your team can't pitch.

quote:What are your 'facts'? You keep saying stuff like past results don't indicate future success (which is mostly true) but you haven't once acknowledged our recruiting, which is a pretty good factor to use to indicate future success.
Yeah -- I'm the one that got my panties in a wad because a random State fan on the internet said he thought Carolina was a tier behind LSU and Mississippi State this year -- based on a bunch of listed(and obviously ignored) tangible facts.
You also keep bringing up the fact that because Tanner left, we can't keep winning. Nevermind that Holbrook took us to game 3 of the Supers against national seed UNC and we have an excellent staff surrounding him.
Also, quit comparing our coaching change situation to that of LSU's. That's worse than us bringing up our past success.

You went out early in the SEC tourney that both other teams went deep in(incl a loss to us)
Please tell me how good Ray Tanners teams did in the SEC tourney the years we won it all. thanks

Just passed this on 182. Headed to the Left Field Lounge for a year of tier 1 SEC baseball.

Please tell me how MSU is relevant? In anything?
Best year in school history and it's as good as South Carolina's 2nd worst season in the last four years

You keep acting like anyone gives a single frick about what you did "x" years ago. The fact is that the only past year that even arguably matters in college baseball is the previous one. In which we dominated you head to head, and when things were said and done had the #2 recruiting class nationally.
Regardless, I would say playing in the championship game is relevant. Meanwhile, judging by your posts, you are waiting on your 2011 roster and coach to contribute to the 2014 season.

I bet most people forgot MSU even played for the title.
We understand your jealousy, but we don't need a preseason ranking to talk for our program. We have the hardware. Something MSU doesn't. Even if you won one this year, you'd only join the ranks of Georgia and Missouri. Congrats I guess
But MSU probably won't even make it to Omaha. Flashes in the pan never really last long.

I would say more people care about what we have done lately than what MSU has done lately.

If thats a domination, what do you call what UCLA did to you?

Ironic State fans rag on other fans about past years, when they're using last year as why they'll be good this year.

Also that left field lounge crap is downright emberrassing. Might be worse than cowbells, because you can actually see the white trash right there on TV. Time to catch up to the rest of the SEC MSU.

2010,2011,2012 all played in the relevant game. We are waiting on all of them

Maybe if it didn't look like a redneck with down syndromes duck blind.
Seems like you could have coolers and grills on something a little nicer looking, too.

Well we currently claim all top 10 NCAA attendance records. Doesn't seem like we are the ones needing to catch up.

But, hey, I was the idiot when I told you how good that MSU was going to be last year too. How many of you fricktards are laughing when I tell you that this team is better than last year's team?
You could very well be better than last year, but guess what? It doesn't mean shite if you don't catch on fire at the right time to advance deep into the tournament.
Good luck this year. Should be an interesting season in the SEC.
