Unc must suck this year if BA doesn't even have them in the top 15

I don't follow college baseball too closely, but I do read VolNation's baseball board occasionally. Very few of them, but seem to be knowledgeable.

They seem to think our offense should be solid, but no idea on pitching.

I know Serrano was the highest ranked freshman who chose to go to school in the SEC, but how do frosh pitchers usually do? Seems he might be our Fri. night guy.

I figured Virginia would be #1 in every poll this year.

Our recruiting has been insane since our run in 2010 and we have an elite coaching staff, despite Ray Tanner becoming AD.

You would think playing in the title series 3 of the last 4 years and winning it twice would count for something. I mean our worst year as of late was losing game 3 of a Super Regional on the road to the #1 seed in a season where we lost a ton of old talent including the most decorated pitched to come thru SC. All that and we still aren't worthy of being a top 10 team a whole 1 spot ahead of MSU.

If past success were the measuring stick, there would be a lot of programs more worthy than South Carolina.

That said, this ranking reflects the opinion of 2 guys who both live in the Triangle and see nothing but ACC games all year. Fitt and Manuel combined may see half these teams play before Selection Monday. Manuel will see UNC and everyone who plays at UNC. This ranking really isn't even worth talking about.

No one has done anything to deserve any ranking right now, FWIW.

Recently? Not at all. South Carolina has been incredible.

what a terrible poll, besides all the SEC teams ranked too low, how is CSF not number 1?

Again, not sure if serious. Unless you are going by 50 years...which surely you aren't..right?

I've heard that this team will be much better (hard to get worse). Supposedly, the pitching should be a lot better (comparitively speaking) with Serrano getting the kind of arms he can work with. This team should be solid up the middle as well. Hopefully they can sneak into the NCAAs.

I'm glad the coverage of college baseball is picking up...it's my favorite sport other than college football to watch on tv.

So you are suggesting a poll based on recent success with recent defined as the time span that is most favorable to South Carolina? I'm in.

Anyone want to tabulate our record against #1, #2, and #3 last postseason for me?

Like Virginia #1 and Oregon St #2 -- and like Fullerton being ranked highly.

My question is -- what has Carolina done to deserve being ranked ahead of LSU and us?

IMO SEC tiers should be:
MSU LSU Vandy
Carolina Florida
Bama aTm Arky OM Kentucky and IMO Tennessee sneaks onto this tier as well

I seriously lol'd so loudly at this one that my secretary came in here and asked what I was laughing at ... and when I showed her, she lol'd too.

I have a feeling this one is going to make the rounds.

Thanks for the belly laugh engie the idgit.

Ummm, with regard to part one ... name them. Name "a lot of programs more worthy." LINK

With regard to part two, I agree. I've been saying the same thing about BA and Fitt and Manuel for more than a decade now ... but they still keep overrating the ACC teams, it's never gonna change.

Indiana offense is legit, they can mash.
Pitching is pretty bad though.

Very serious.

You shouldn't be getting any Bertman...errr...Tanner "bumps" anymore. What did Holbrook show in year 1 that was in any way superior to what Smoke Laval showed -- which is who I've compared him to from the beginning? That's not to take anything away from Holbrook, he may very well prove to be "the guy", but it is VERY hard to follow a generational legend that quits while on top -- and Smoke is the only recent example of that.

- You lost 3 of 4 to MSU last year.
- You went out early in the SEC tourney that both other teams went deep in(incl a loss to us)
- You went out in the SR round while both of us went to Omaha and we stuck around awhile. You lost a road Super -- we won a road Super convincingly over this #1.

Need I go on?
