Yeah, I pointed all of that out bud.

I guess I had heard that Cowart wasn't picking up the playbook very well so far, which is understandable as a true freshman who didn't enroll early. He's a beast, and I've heard Lawson has been unblockable in practice, but U of L has two very proven rushers of the passers, and other good players who provide depth. I very well could be wrong though.

Won't argue your opinion. But, I think your intel on Cowart imay be dated or wrong. We're hearing he may even start opposite of Lawson and Gardner told ESPN recently that he was on the fast track. The only thing I am concerned with is that he's up to a NFL size DE weight that he has never played at.

Your analysis was good, but the weight of the positions was off. The key is they lose 7 Defenders off a group that played average Defense in the ACC.

Yeah, the analysis was very knowledgeable, but I don't see UL as having a slight overall edge on D or even a push. I think we will have a much stronger D overall.

In fact, I expect our defense to be a top 25 defense in the country this year. We shall see.

FWIW, and I'd consider myself a pretty anti-UofL bias, they're going to have a pretty strong LB corp this season even with the defections. They've picked up several guys who left/were dismissed from other SEC teams (i.e. Georgia) so they have the talent even if it's built on knuckleheads.

What world do you live in where Louisville played average defense last season?

I paid him a compliment by calling him a professional newspaper writer. I guess suggesting it was with the AJC countered any compliment.

They gave up 23 points to UVA, 42 to FSU, 28 to ND, 23 to Clemson, and 37 to UGA.

The fact that you're using the UVA game as an argument is absolutely absurd. 16 of Virginia's 23 points came from drives that began inside the Louisville 40 yard line. That's not really the defenses fault when they hold them to field goals.

eta: I also hate Todd Grantham with my whole heart, so it's painful for me to give him credit in any way. But UL did lead the NCAA in interceptions, and giving up 28 to ND, and 23 to Clemson, or even 37 to us really isn't that bad.

Explain the other games. Our Defense sucked last year, and we didn't give up 37 to UGA (34). They played a very soft schedule and gave up point to the quality opponents.

My biggest concern is the offensive execution. I'm not worried about JJ and passing game. My biggest concern is the the running game and the execution of the option. That is the most important part of our offense. I don't expect NM greatness, but we need it to be effective enough to hit them with the deep ball. I've given up hoping for good things on defense. If they play like they care, then that's great but I've given up on that side of the ball until I see LBers hit the gap/rush off the edge and make some tackles.

I disagree in three areas RB and OL,DL.Auburn has best d line in nation, not Alabama, they lack a dominant pass rusher. NFL scouts in love with Dontavius Russell and he hasnt played after redshirting at DT.Carl Lawson, Davente Lambert,Keymiya Harrell back from injury and Adams in a battle with juco Maurice Swainand might be a back up.Juco Devaroe Lawrence also being talked up and Jauntavius Johnson at 330 will be used on run downs.Auburn has four elite rbs and Radcliffe alone can compete with three five stars and three fours counting the HBacks.OL has Five 5 stars plus Kozan and Golson,Louisville gutted at oline.

I orginally had this close but with defense shutting down offense in first scrimmage and then played solid in second scrimmage with Lawson,Adams sitting out I think Auburn wins big.45-14...I dont think Auburn gets challenged till they play Ole Miss.

I think AU takes this one but it will be close for a while. As far as UL's D last year, I think they were ranked in the top 10 up until the bowl game?

Are you still talking about recruit stars one they've been on campus for a few years?

I see what you are saying but player development is not measured in those stars. You have some good players though...

I'm curious when Auburn got the best DL in the nation? Serious

Can't agree with all of that. Our Dline is strong, but no way best in the country or the SEC. Lawson is absolutely going to wreck shop and may actually turn out to be one of the top defensive players in the country. Adams is hit or miss, dynamic when he is on, very average when he isnt. Lambert and Lawrence are solid and we have decent depth, but we don't just go 8 deep with little dropoff like 2010. We are a good dline with potential to be really good. Not elite, best in nation.

And LSU is gonna give us all we can handle in baton rouge. Better believe that. At Arky is going to be a toss up, Arky is actually favored right now.

We beat Ole Miss by 10 at home. Not worried about that one.
