DOs usually didn't go to the right prestigous prep schools or belong to all the undergrad organizations to have their applications accepted.

No. It's the ones who did not score high enough on the MCAT. Like any grad school, it's all about the test score. I challenge you to find me a kid with a 36 on the MCAT who had to go to DO school because he did not have connected parents.

Also, will Auburn show an godly amount of preference to Auburn students like they do with their Pharmacy school? And by that I mean, require classes that Alabama does not offer or change requirements on such a short notice that several Alabama students have to transfer to Auburn to even be able to get in (read: several of my friends).

I do not think AU has a shortage of students, so I do not think they do it to have students transfer to Auburn. AU has a very demanding pre-pharmacy program just to be considered for their Pharmancy program, requirements that students do not get at other schools

The kid with the highest Mcat in the nation, couldn't pass OSU-COM and was kicked out in his second year, and yes, I know him....

I audit medical bills for a living (given these are for uninsured crime victims in texas) and I see just as many DO's as MD's

Yea I would imagine there are tons of DO's who do lots of government work for the uninsured.

You left out the part where the only people who go to osteopathic schools are people who can't get into the over 100 medical schools in the country. Honest question. Would you want one performing life threatening surgery on you or would you want an MD? A school as good as Auburn should not associate with a second rate program like this.

You do know that they have to pass the same tests and they are just as qualified as MD's. Ask any MD that works with DO's.

Sure. I will ask the MD sitting across the room from me. He says you are wrong.

This is true, the only real problem with going to DO school is that it is harder to get a residency position.

I would rather see a real doctor and maybe have to wait a little longer than have the state flooded with "holistic" doctors who can't get into medical school.

You are a dumbass or you are afraid that it will reduce your chest beating about those UAB trained doctors that you bammers claim graduated from UAT. Most large medical practices have Osteopathic doctors practicing along side of MDs. I have been to a few and they are not holistic doctors and unless you see their degree you would never know.

What the hell does this have to do with anything?

That's the problem. 2nd rate doctors are all over most hospitals and I don't get to know if I am dealing with a real doctor or a holistic doctor unless I ask to see his diploma.

It's perfect for auburn. A cult school teaching cult medicine.

These idiots will go nuts trying to convince people that "basically" a DO is the same as an MD.

It's not, a DO is a glorified chiropractor.

Bammers do not want anyone taking away from the only program that they can really brag about to educated people. That is why they keep close grips on the UA BOT power balance, it prevents UAB from breaking away and claiming the banner.

Ask most nurses and PAs what they think about those first rate doctors that you would wait around for hours so you can have peace of mind.
