We have more rivalries in the east, then the west. in fact really its only Bama.

In Auburn's list of top ten teams played the most, 4 are from the east and 4 are from the West:

Georgia 109 E
Mississippi State 87 W
[Georgia Tech 86]
Florida 84 E
Alabama 72 W
Tennessee 51 E
[Clemson 48]
Louisiana State 47 W
Mississippi 38 W
Vanderbilt 38 E

282 games vs East, 244 games vs West - not that big of a difference.

You think more AU fans would pay to attend AU vs UK/Vandy than MSU/OleMiss?

AU and UT could swap. That way, the IB could be played, and UT could play UF as their permanent cross division rival. That would also keep the balance in the division's, because UT won't be down forever.

hell, the two teams have never been good enough at the same time to win their divisions and face each other in ATL

Maybe I have bad memory but I don't remember any of the perma rivals facing off in ATL.

You have to remember......The vast majority of the games against teams from the West, except for bama, have happened since the SEC expanded to 12 teams and split into divisions. The UF and UT rivalries were huge until expansion.

I know we don't have divisions, but moving to the east would unite us with the leagues other basketball schools in UF, UK, and Vandy.

They haven't. I'm surprised UF/LSU haven't.

You lost me. Are you saying that because AU has lots of students/Alum from those three states, that UF,UGA and UT will vote for AU to switch?

If you are over 30, you know that AU had a big rivalry with TN and FL. AU vs LSU is something that happened after 1992. Other than Bama, AU rarely played the teams that are now in the West.

I'm not arguing any of that. I said it would never happen because none of the other schools wanted it, including UT and UF.

Correct. Bama is actually 4th on our list in all-time games played with AU behind UGA, GT, and UF. Those are our 3 largest rivals in terms of games played, and we stopped playing GT yearly years ago.

Logically it makes little sense that Auburn is in the SEC West or the state is on Central time for that matter.

Only two teams would logistically make sense for the swap, Vanderbilt who has tenure and Missouri who makes less than zero sense being in the SEC East.

I mean if you are using geography as the defining metric and I'm pretty confident it was during the conception of what is the SEC, then what we have now is asinine.

Would AU recruit Georgia/Florida kids any harder? I don't know if they could do more if they tried.

That said....Bring it we a'int skeerd!

Does not matter.

It's been over 20 years, do you think that those games don't count for some reason?

Don't make us have to go over there and burn down another building.

And now they're not.

LSU and Tulane were huge rivals back in the day, as were LSU and Ole Miss - But not so much any more. Hell, Auburn had played G-Tech more than all other SEC teams but one, and Clemson more than all others but 4 before '92, does that mean Auburn wants to join the ACC so they can maintain their traditional rivalries?

I understand that Auburn wants to go to the East, I just don't think Auburn is wanted over there. Do you think UGA-UT-FLA-SoCarl wants another power program in their division?

moronic argument.

(the reason AU and GT played so often is because GT was in the SEC)

AU and UF met as permanent cross division rivals in 1999... but other than that, I can't remember any.

Seriously, tho, unless you're over 40, you probably feel this way.

I agree on them not wanting us. We currently have a win streak against each of them. They jelly.
