no one will ever be down with splitting up the six major teams into a 4/2 divisional split... it makes no sense and AU's president talking about it is pointless, b/c he knows there is no chance in hell it would ever happen... he's just politicing or some shite.

since 1992, these games have pretty consistently been more important that matchups like UT/Bama.

not to the fans of UT and Bama, nor the guys in charge at each University

AU- not sure but the prez says that is what they want

We have more rivalries in the east, then the west. in fact really its only Bama.

Problem is, they are the only two that want it, that is why it is never happening.

What other schools are wanting to switch divisions?

Gogue coming out and making these statments is surprising to me. He seemed to be above the football fray a couple of years ago during the Chizik derailing fiasco. He rarely commented on the football program publically and now he's politicing for AU to move to the East. Strange

If this happens I hope the Iron Bowl is the permanent opponent game dropped instead of the TSIO.

Let's get the team that is the farthest east against the teams that are the farthest west.

Going to happen anyway.
TAMU & SCAR are perma-rivals.
Granted, that's only one game.

Read the Presidents comments

I did, maybe you can be more specific. All I see is
quote:

also noted that Missouri would like to trade places with Auburn and move to the SEC West

and I stated the only two that it would benefit, AU and Mizzou.

The president added that he would personally like to see the Tigers move from the SEC West to the SEC East because a significant portion of Auburn’s out-of-state population is from the SEC East states of Georgia, Florida and Tennessee.

I think it would help Season ticket sells in both divisions.

He kind of had to keep scarce...when trains are wrecking you get out of the way.

He's no doubt emboldened with the 180 football pulled.

i guess we need to define 'important'... with regards to who wins the SEC, this game is pretty meaningless... hell, the two teams have never been good enough at the same time to win their divisions and face each other in ATL... even though bama's faced both UF and UGA... and UT has faced AU, MSU, and LSU.

it would certainly benefit the health of your fans so i don't blame you for seeking that refuge.

You lost me. Are you saying that because AU has lots of students/Alum from those three states, that UF,UGA and UT will vote for AU to switch?

While Aub's are nice enough to have in the neighborhood, I don't think UGA/FLA/UT want y'all over there. And AU ticket sales have been solid for a long time, even with the rollercoaster seasons. You think more AU fans would pay to attend AU vs UK/Vandy than MSU/OleMiss?
